Listen4ever Goes Off-Line
Music distribution site can't take the attention
by Karl Bode Monday 19-Aug-2002 tags: legal · Fileswapping
As we mentioned Friday, most of the major record labels launched a lawsuit against several network providers, hoping to force the providers to limit web access to the Listen4ever.com website, which provides illegal album downloads. The site struggled from the load on Friday, and went down over the weekend, apparently crushed by the worldwide coverage. So far the network providers have not made public comments about the suit, though an AT&T Broadband representative said the company was working closely with all parties involved.

As I look at this again.

Is it my imagination, or are the ones mentioned on shaky grounds with other problems?

Why does that not surprise me? ATTBI is trying to get regulatory approval for their merger with Comcast, of course they're sucking up to industry big shots.

It's a story of ISPs quaking in their respective boots, and caving in to the RIAA. Man.....

New RIAA tactic.

It looks the RIAA developed a new tactic - make the offending web site known to general public, and watch it crash under the load of requests from hungry public. Clever...

Psst, I heard that www.riaa.com has a lot of mp3's of new albums. wink, wink...
