| Time for DMCA
@mindspring.com | Time to call the feds and use the DMCA. After all, doesn't the RIAA claim that's what DMCA is for? Let 'em have it in the end! Bend'em Over!

On that basis a full investigation could be launched.

| RIAA employees won't have any MP3's or divx rips on their hard drives. They get their music and movies for free, and you pay for it!
It's part of the "free goods" charge, which is built into the wholesale price of the product, charged to the retailer and passed on to you!
It's a marketing strategy with the purpose of promoting the product to retailers and other industry participants. Don't ask me how promotion occurs when the product is passed out to RIAA or entertainment company employees. Word of mouth?

| I don't think the free goods charge goes to all the record company employees to have all the free records and DVD's they want. The execs, managers, mixing engineers, producers, lawyers (oh the humanity!), and hit writers might get a grab at the freebees but I doubt Rufus the mailroom clerk or Betty in accounts receivable are getting anything but donuts on Friday.
They do happen to do a lot of music giveaways by the way. Ever wonder about when a radio station says, "I have the new *insert artist here* CD here for the 35th caller." comes from? Also giveaways have to done for other corporate decision makers like the record and outlet stores and such. Lets not forget that Payola has to come from somewhere. I doubt they would have it as such in their accounting books. -- Love Science Fiction? www.spacestationzoom.com

Looks like Rosen and company need to be exposed for the hypocrites they are. "Do as I say, not as I do, " goes a rather appropriate quote.

Actually, when you buy a CD you are just making the rich get richer, so I don't think its communism.

| When you buy a CD you get an aluminum disk covered in plastic that holds a digital recording. Lets not get all freaky liberal here about it. If you like an artist just buy the damn CD. Stop moaning about how the record industry bleeds all the profits out of the sale. You are still supporting the artist.
The RIAA and its commanding members don't have that long to enjoy their totalitarian rule over the music industry. The people have spoken regarding high CD prices and pre-fabricated music acts. There WILL be a shift in the powerbase. Mark my words. But saying that buying music is only furthering the RIAA monster is ignoring that you are hurting the artist as well. Record sales mean a lot to the success of a musician. -- Love Science Fiction? www.spacestationzoom.com

@141.156.x.x | Re: SUE SUE SUE!! Well, then maybe the artists will finally stand up and get their fair share by telling the RIAA to take a hike. Music will not die if the RIAA disappears...actually it would thrive as we would have more choices and variety.

| No Google Cache - is the fix in?
Trying the Google cache record link returns this:
Your search - cache:5WwVc7a2sHAC:www.musicunited.org/5_takeoff.html "Select the Options item from the Tools menu" - did not match any documents.
The Wayback Machine (web.archive.org) also does not have anything for www.musicunited.org/5.takeoff.html
Scientology has already gotten to The Wayback Machine via the DMCA. Did the RIAA similarly "fix" this problem?
Has anybody thought about the problem on the Web that a site can say something on a page, then change the page and say "We never said that..."? Unless someone else made a copy of the original page, there's no record. This is like the "memory hole" in George Orwell's 1984.
