A Material Girl
Madonna's message for file traders
Many record companies have turned to bogus files to deter and irritate users of peer to peer networks, but Madonna has recently taken a more personal approach. The pop star, in conjunction with her record label, has released a phoney version of her latest single, 'American Life' to file trading networks. Instead of being greeted with music when played however, downloaders will be greeted by Madonna herself
, asking them "What the f--- do you think you’re doing?"
The singer has also apparently banned her singles from being offered by any of the legitimate music services such as Pressplay, MusicNet and Rhapsody, so she can apparently distribute her music instead
. She's offering the 'American Life' single on her website for $1.49, hopefully insult free.
