| Re: Ahahahahahahahahahaha It's a brilliant publicity play; nothing more, nothing less. Same as releasing the video in Europe and not in the US. Would MTV play it in the US? Sure, but that doesn't grab the headlines like this does.
The artists (not here to argue semantics) who get downloaded the most on P2P systems are also the ones who sell the most CDs; think of it less as theft (again, not arguing semantics) as the new barometer of your Q Rating as a musician.

Of course not. What do you think they are, a music station? I think they might have been at one time, maybe back in the '80s, but it's been so long I don't even remember.

| Amen! You also have to think back to when she said it wasn't appropriate to release the video at the time because it was anti-war. Anyone with any self respect wouldn't have even mentioned the video (or made it in the first place). Whatever plasters her old, tired face all over the news is worth it to her.
I think she just can't handle it that her husband is more successful than she currently is and much more artistic to boot.

| There is only one way to hurt the RIAA
And that would be to boycott all RIAA music labels. Don't buy their products. Don't download their artist's tracks. (You don't want them shaking you down for $150k a track)
Tell your friends. Spread the word. NOTHING will change as long as they are making money.
You can change that. One person at a time, the money train can be stopped.
How long will it take the "material girl" to change her tune after the gravy train stops??
How may lawyers and politicians can the RIAA buy after they run out of money?? Time to hurt them good. (I personally haven't purchased or downloaded a track for at least 6 months, and I don't plan to change that any time soon)

Hey, at least I am not participating in file trading.
Trading implies a 2-way exchange. So if you get your friends to make copies of CDs they have (and probably bought), then that makes you a leech. Like so many of the leeches on P2P that will download but not share. Kind of like the guy who always bums a smoke, but never has one to spare.
Your friends make the copies for you, too? I'll bet it's their CD blanks too.
With a sig like "Still living on Dial-Up", it's starting to make sense. Wait, don't tell me. You're still running DOS on a 486. Never mind. Now I understand.
The only way to hurt the RIAA is to replace it with something different. P2P is a guerilla action that will end with the music industry changing their business model. The music they promote isn't worth giving away anyway. RIAA revenue and profits will come from lawsuits.

Didn't effect anyone with the garbage she calls music. I could have swore that her music was half way decent when she was young and started but now all I hear is garbage.

| hmmmm... I went to the madonna.com website to check it out, and I noticed her real website was back up. I chose the "flash" version of her website, but it didn't work because I only have Flash 5 installed, and it wanted Flash 6, but there is not a Flash 6 for my hardware (yet).
Not only that, but it resized my Netscape window to such a point where I could not exit out of my Netscape. I actually had to go and kill my Netscape process (I am using UNIX). And when I restarted Netscape I still had to scroll over to my adjoining virtual desktop to resize my Netscape.
I have mixed feelings about website designers that have taken the internet protocols to such a point. There is nothing wrong with a flash website, but why do you have to make it automatically go to full screen and disable my window borders? Isn't it possible that some of us might be doing something else besides wanting to check out the Madonna site? If I wanted a full-screen presentation shouldn't that choice be left up to end user?
If it wasn't for the fact that I have a virtual desktop (i.e. My desktop area is several times larger than my monitor - I can scroll of the edge of my screen onto another one) It might have taken me quite some time to fix this problem.
And for all that flashiness, no security to go with it. Hmmm.
As far as the file sharing thing, the file sharing laws vary from country to country. Apparently, in some countries, it's OK to share music for personal uses, you just can't sell it for a profit - I guess maybe she's just trying to make a statement about American Life.
American life - bitch about file sharing, get your website hacked.
PS - Here is an interesting article I just found, you may want to check it out if you have not already...
