SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Puerto Rico Telephone (PRT), the ninth largest telephone company in the U.S. and 52% owned by Verizon International, has teamed up with 2Wire, a provider of broadband service platforms for the DSL market, to deliver the most advanced home networking solution available today.

2Wire is providing broadband connectivity equipment to PRT's DSL subscribers, replacing modems and routers with an integrated, intelligent broadband services platform. The 2Wire HomePortal(r) residential gateway enables wireless home networking, high-powered wireless Internet access throughout the home, and advanced broadband services and applications.

PRT is offering subscribers a Home Gateway Control Pack, consisting of powerful 2Wire broadband services, including Parental Controls, Firewall Monitor, and Web Remote Access, covering every computer in the home.
