| Re: Save customers the pain and just send grenades Dear SBC Subscriber:
Great news! Now you can bundle, rebundle and rerebundle all your communications needs! SBC is pleased to offer you in one convenient billing telephone, telegraph, teletype, television and telenet services in a package too confusing to break-down into its individual, component costs.
Rest assured, as we roll-out this exciting offering, that we will find new ways to bill you for everything from animated avatars to the number 3 (and letters d,e,f) on your telephone keypad. Also, please note with our TV product there will be a cap imposed on channel surfing. If you use your remote more than 2x/day, your TV signal will be limited to black-and-white images and reruns of Bewitched.
If you select to receive all of our services, we will award you a gold star. If you chose not to subscribe to 100% of our services, you will be penalized billed at a premium for your lack of support of SBC.
See you on Comedy Central!
Sincerely, All Your Friends at SBC

| Re: FINALLY!!! Why does this allow you to finally ditch the cable company? You must be a complete SBC suckup. So, you can only get DishNetwork now that it has SBC's stamp of approval? You could've easily gotten DishNetwork all along. This is a pathetic attempt to compete against cable, and doesn't increase competition at all. DishNetwork has been a competitive option all them time anyways. As for bundling, Dish already had a DSL bundling deal with Earthlink. Plus, if you think that this will make Dishnetwork a better deal than it already is, think again. You will have to get sign up for Dish with SBC(who will get the $50 commission). You'll get far better deal(even with including the bundling) if you go with an independent DishNetwork retailer that installs. They get a much greater commission which they can give you a chunk of and blow away any deal SBC DishNetwork has has. Ex: I currently will pay people $80 to take a 2 receiver system with free installation(instead of charging them $50 upfront), they will then get 4 months of AT100+ HBO and Cinemax free(instead of 3 because I don't charge the $50). My deal is effectively $130 better. | |

| Re: FINALLY!!! This point is moot 2far since you must be no farther than 4,000 feet from your CO to get VDSL. Qwest is finding out its not as lucrative as they thought it might be. not too many people are 4 kilofeet or closer to their CO's. As for DISHNETWORK they werent bad [productwise] but their BILLING dept totally sucks. -- You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth | |

| Yeah, the reason people don't choose Dish is because of their billing dept. ALMOST NOBODY MAKES CONSUMER DECISIONS BASED ON BILLING DEPTs. Only companies whose products suck and prices are a rippoff will brag about nebulous things like billing department or customer service. I never heard about CableVision OOL having such a great billing department because people were so in love with the 8mb/1mb service. Only people so rich that they have nothing else to worry about but customer service and billing actually care about that. In this economy, people care about 1 thing and 1 thing only: getting the best deal. | |

| Re: FINALLY!!! Well, they solved my personal unemployment problem. The fact is that tons of people in this economy will gladly sacrifice a little customer service in order to save money. Customer service is something you prioritize in a good economy. I target people who want to penny pinch to the extreme. I'm targeting this economy. | |

| Dude you are not reading this correctly, for what I see sbc won't be selling dishnetwork but bundling to their existing customer at a discount to make it atractive for what I understand you can go and tell your customers they can bundle the dish with dsl, wireless and phone this will actually will make it easy to sell it to your customers, sa far as deals go you know they are the same from dish network to all retailer is all matter of what you do to get the customers and if you are an small retailer you can take a chunk out of your commission and pass it to your customers. I am a retailer myself and I look forward to see if i can offer lower prices to better compete with cable | |

In any event, this is a great deal for SBC customers and an immediate leg up in SBC's effort to compete with cable. -- "Countries...have a right to be free, and we a right to aid them, as a strong man has a right to assist a weak one assailed by a robber or murderer." --Thomas Jefferson, 1816. Their lone customer service rep said he couldn't do anything to fix it because he was just in an office with a phone. No computer! Also, they could not offer DirecTV's HDTV channels at any of their apartments. A community dish is a good idea, in theory. Technically there were always problems at my apt.

| Re: bundles From the AP article about this - -
"In addition to the convenience of a single bill and the convenience of being able to order with one call, the customer will also get significant value," said Lea Ann Champion, SBC senior executive vice president and chief marketing officer. However, SBC officials declined to discuss specific discounts that customers might receive when the service is launched early next year.
One (independent) analysts take - - Get a customer to use more of your services and they become a more profitable customer," he said. "Not only that, but when customers use multiple services, it becomes increasingly difficult to compare and contrast to competitive offerings so they tend to stay put."
Underscoring the trend, just hours after the SBC announcement, Denver-based Qwest Communications International Inc., the main local phone provider in 14 Western and Plains states, announced its own partnerships with EchoStar and rival DirecTV Inc.
