MTV Goes Black
Customers lose in Viacom Echostar spat

Even if you're not a Dish Network subscriber, you've probably been noticing the messages flitting across your screen on certain Viacom owned channels the past several days. They're part of a spat between Viacom and Echostar that has resulted in many users losing not only MTV, but the complete line of Viacom channels, including CBS.

As users in our TV&Satellite forum discuss, a rate spat between the two media giants has resorted in Echostar taking some drastic measures to make their point. Echostar claims Viacom was looking for rate increases up to 40% during negotiations. Some 1.6 million subscribers currently cannot have their MTV. Google News has more.

Good riddance

I don't watch any Viacom programming anyway. They lost me when VH1 started "glorifying" criminals with their show "Music Behind Bars". They did not seem to care about the feelings of these criminals' victims. So, GOOD RIDDANCE!!!
