ATI, SK Telecom team up on cellphone game graphics
(old news - 05:20PM Friday Mar 12 2004)
TORONTO, March 12 (Reuters) - Graphics chip maker ATI Technologies Inc. and SK Telecom Co., South Korea's biggest mobile phone group, said on Friday they will team up to develop a platform for 3D video game graphics on cellphones.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Markham, Ontario-based ATI said the service platform, a combination of hardware and software, will use its Imageon 2300 series of graphics chips.

The platform will be used for a 3D game service SK Telecom plans to launch in the fourth quarter. The company is already selecting manufacturers to build phones for the service.

ATI and SK Telecom said the platform will be based on industry standards and available to mobile phone manufacturers and content developers.
