Did the CERT warning open the door to Mozilla?
(old news - 04:45PM Friday Jul 02 2004)
tags: security · software
It's been a week of almost constant debate among browser loyalists after another string of vulnerabilities led CERT to suggest that users should steer clear of (or patch) Internet Explorer. The resulting debate saw a massive surge in the popularity of Mozilla based browsers, and an increase in damage control from the Microsoft camp, who claim CERT's comments were misrepresented by the press. Redmond also today announced a new update the company claims "improves system resiliency" against the Download.Ject attack. With service pack 2 promising long overdue IE upgrades in July, and vulnerabilities nudging users toward Mozilla, the summer could prove interesting.
