5% of Millennials Plan to Cut Cord
The slow and small but steady phenomenon known as cord cutting isn't going away. A new survey of 2,400 TV subscribers aged 24-34 indicates that around 5% of them plan to cut the cord sometime in the near future. According to the survey, that percentage was just 2.9 percent among all age groups, though that's higher than the 2.2 percent in 2012 who said they would soon cancel pay TV. The reasons for leaving were the usual fare, and included continued annoyance at poor industry customer support:
quote:
Why are people cutting the cord? According to the survey, 76 percent say they are satisfied with what’s coming to them over-the-top, whether that be streamed TV shows or digital content on YouTube and other websites. Not surprisingly, about 40 percent rate their customer service from cable and satellite companies fair or worse.
The survey found that around 59 percent of U.S. households pay for a subscription video-on-demand service, with Netflix comprising 43 percent of that total.

Karl, please stop!

Please stop discussing how awesome cord cutting is. Only a fool would cut the cord. $200 a month isn't THAT much to pay for mindless entertainment. Just think of all the things you are missing by not having cable TV. And boy what a hassle it is to set up all of that streaming gear. It isn't wife friendly at all. Cutting the cord kills puppies.

So please Karl, stop motivating the masses to do something so stupid.

I am a cord cutter who enjoys the better experience and the extra cash I save. I also believe that once cord cutting becomes popular, corporations will find a way to both degrade the experience and make it even more expensive than a premium cable subscription.[/truth]

only 5% ?

something must be very odd about this "survey"

Millennials may not mind fat smartphone bills,
but they do hate fat cable bills on top of that.

5% cord cutting each year would be more realistic.
