Are you talking about Powerlink Premier?? Cause that is what I have and mine has been upgraded... makes me think that COX is indeed buying adelphia when they sell. Let me know... thanx

| do I have cox??? I have a question... I have adelphia powerlink premier, and I live in richmond kentucky. Sometimes in my firewall logs adelphia will scan some ports... but sometimes it is COX... powerlink premier is 4MB down, 512 up. I have heard that adelphia selling, and that in my area that Cox may be buying it... I posted a thread in the adelphia forum yesterday, or the day before asking if anyone in my area has seen speed increases... cause over the weekend mine has went up a good amt. Last night my internet went out about 12:00, and it just came back on a little while ago... I got up this morning at 7 and was still out, so it came back on between 7 and 9..
Normally on the 64MB Ftp download speed test I would get anywhere from 400-500 -- at the highest... now mine is at least 500 and has went up to 600.. which is over the 4MB level. So now that I see that COX has upgraded, I'm wondering if I fall into this catagory.... does anyone have any info??? Anyone else have powerlink and had upgrades over the last couple of days?? And those of you that are on COX, did your internet go out last night?? Mine went out FRI. AND last night.. Thanx TRE

1 edit | MAC area customers, the ones atleast in Louisiana, are subject to those. You either do residential, which is 59.95 for 1024/128. All residential, unless you go with their lite plan, which is 128/128.
If you want anything faster, you have to go through CBS, and in this market, SWLA on up to Central and Northern Louisiana; those are your choices.
That is it. The next step would be Cox Optical.
And no, it does not matter how unhappy I am. I require Internet access. It is not an issue that is up for debate. My choices where I live are Cox Commuications, or satellite. Bellsouth's ADSL only covers specific portions of the city, and last I heard, they stopped their buildout to work on legal issues with people who were buying the ADSL service, and then turning around and reselling the service.

well i called up cox and the rep told me we are definitely getting a speed increase, but it will be in a few months closer to the end of the year. the speed increase will be for Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana first.
as far as how fast or how much the speed will increase, the rep had no idea or was not allowed to say. hopefully it will be at least comparable to what the rest of the cox nation is getting.
just dont expect anything to happen anytime soon.

| I am happy with my raised caps. I currently was on the 3000/256 tier and Cox upped my speeds to 5000/512 last night at 11pm CST because my modem rebooted twice. The download speed is between 4400 to 4700Kbps and 435-509Kbps up. Webpages load very fast by the time that I click on the mouse, it's because I have been used to 3000/256 since September 2001 that I don't know how it's like to have anything faster than 3000/256. Premier tier is capped at 5000/768, I'm not sure on value tier. I feel very bad for the redhead stepchildren of Cox MAC. | Re: I am happy with my raised caps. Funny. The premier tier is still way overpriced. The only difference is the upload, now it's 5/768, while the Preferred (half the price) is 5/512.
If Cox is going to charge 2x as much for the premier, MAKE IT 2x as fast! The premier package should be 10/1 for $80 a month.
OTOH, the Preferred package at 5/512 is a good value at $40. -- HyperJoe 2004

Being young and foolish, one time when I had the tech replacing the rented modem that burned up due to a lightning strike, I asked him why it was 4000 and not the 3000. He told me to enjoy which I did until I moved away last year. Now, where I live my only option is to have DSL @ 512/256 (they just gave us a speed bump from 256). I envy you all!
