| What do you mean god I hope not? Are you some kind of Racist or something? I'm an American of Puerto Rican Accent, and I would love to see Colonializm ended there. We are in the 21st Century and whether Puerto Rico becomes a state or independent is up to the residents of the island. Should they decide to become a state we should embrase that has it was done in the other 50 states who joined the union in the History of the United States. | |

On the other hand, the homophobic slam was inexcusable.
And, didn't PR citizens just reject statehood? Seems like statehood might force the island to forego some of its current very lucrative tax benefits, no?

That may include DC as a "state" and count it in the 51 regulators.

| Does this affect taxing? As was seen just earlier today, some cities are trying to impose taxes onto VoIP companies even if the company has no physical presence in the city itself. If this does strike down those potential taxes, then it's a very good thing. Obviously, having a hundred-plus different taxes (one per city) piled on top of VoIP could have killed the industry. (Or, at least, killed the smaller players leaving just a few "VoIP-Bells" around.) -- -Jason Levine http://www.jasons-toolbox.com/ http://www.PCQandA.com/ http://www.urateit.com/ | |

Actually, the FCC press release, Jeff Pulver, and others seem to indicate that it includes VoIP provided by cable companies as well, even though a lot of VoIP via cable companies (including anything PacketCable) isn't "nomadic" but tied to a fixed physical location and a specific broadband connection via use of an integrated cable modem/ATA device.. Without actually seeing the MO&O for myself (it isn't on the FCC web site yet) I can't say for sure what impact this has on cable VoIP, though...
