Many countries (and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan) have long argued than American based ICANN has a pro-American bias and that control and management over the internet should fall under the auspices of the United Nations. In an apparent shift in that direction, the UN has established a new working group on internet governance, dedicated toward dealing with spam, cyber-security and other Internet-related issues.
You are confusing the U.N. with the Security Council...just one of the U.N. bodies. The U.N. does a very good job of running the ITU and the postal union. -- ::: Do, or do not, there is no try:::»www.kapilville.com
In its day, the U.N. was needed and a viable organization. However, now it's nothing more that a bunch of disadvanntaged countries trying to figure out ways to control the way the U.S. does business. It'll be a cold day before I turn ANY of the freedoms I spent 20 years (military) defending over to that candy a** organization!!!:o
The UN can't handle anything without it being a disaster. I've been a supporter for over 40 years of kicking them out of the country and selling that building. It would make some fine condo property. If their so interested in bettering things, get their azzes to the Sudan. Oh, that's right, there's no way to make money there like the oil for food program
