Why can't they fix this? I can't think of ANY other ISP that is having a "mystery" blockade on e-mail. (save for spam, most have a filter up)

I got on touch with their techs when assisting with a DSL install once. Man, their lack of knowledge about what the hell they're doing is astounding.

| You realize Verizon outsourced their DSL CS to two or three different companies in different parts of the world. They had me go through 3 weeks of training. The first day out on floor had me feeling so sorry for the way customers were given the run around I quit. | |

maybe you shouldn't have quit, and stayed on to make a difference? LOL, have you ever worked for a company that size? You don't make a real difference unless you are at the top (although they will tell you make a difference - usually equates to low pay).

| Either that or that call is the first time they are told about the problem!
Companies are well know for not telling their help desk employees anything at all. Usually a CSR will here about a problem from a caller first and then after a lot of poking around might find a reference to it.

| Nothing New VOL has had weird problems with it's spam filters for a long time. I have posted many times here and in the 0.verizon group asking why email from Comcast accounts are delayed many hours. I never was given a single answer but after many many tests involving different Comcast email addys being sent to various ISPs the bottleneck was without a doubt VOL's anti-spam (brightmail?)server.
My conclusion? Either the server is not configured properly or is overwhelmed. No doubt more of the same old, same old with this new problem.

| Disable the Spam filter You can disable the spam filter for your Verizon account in their account maintainance pages.

| Re: Disable the Spam filter When I first started having these problems, the first thing I did was to disabled the spam filters on all my accounts. It didn't help. When I talked to VOL, the tech told me that the "account" spam blockers are just "bells and whistles" and have nothing to do with blocking spam. He said that VOL's spam blocking is done company wide at the server level, not per account. | |

I dont think its that's simply. For example I have a email notification setup for my VoIP line and it will not work with the filter disabled, however on my secondary email accounts (non VOL) the notifications work as they are suppose to? when I called VOL a few months ago to question that about it they replied they are not blocking anything if the filter is turned off
keep in mind this is a US VoIP and I cant even get that fixed....

| This is nothing to do with the spam filter. Verizons firewall on their inbound mail simply blocks any access to port 25 (SMTP) to any IP in the blocks they have banned (including almost all the UK/Europe). Contrary to their lies, this is nothing to do with "IP addresses that have sent spam in the past". noz | |

| why not sue... Suing seems to be the 'in thing right now... with spammers suing those that report spam, why not sue verizon for blocking access to your private data (the emails) and providing a substandard service, while charing full price for it (did anyone bother to ask for a service credit?)

First, they are not blocking access to 'your data'. They are blocking access to THEIR network by an outside party. Perfectly legal. Their network is theirs, it is private and they decide who has access to it and who does not.

| "legitimate customers?" You must mean someone else's legitimate customers...
Let's be realistic here - Verizon is trying to cut down on spam like everyone else. They don't give a flying fụck if your emails are received or not.
AND
If I see one more complaint about business email being lost, I'M GOING TO FỤCKING KILL WHOEVER USES VERIZON EMAIL FOR THEIR BUSINESS. Domains are cheap, and POP3 accounts are even cheaper.
Plus, @verizon looks tacky and shows your business has no comprehension of current communications standards. At that point, your email might as well be from @aol.com...
