Opera's Challenge to Microsoft
Don't make IE7 another 'failed promise'
As mentioned earlier this week, some details of IE7 have emerged, like the fact it will support tabbed browsing and have reduced privilege mode as the default. Doubtful the company will carry through on its promise to embrace interoperability, the CTO of Opera has suggested the "Acid2 challenge" (future link). "To ensure that IE 7 does not become another failed promise, the Web community will issue a challenge to Microsoft. We will produce a test page, code-named Acid2, that will actively use features Web designers crave, such as fixed positioning of elements."

Opera CTO in PR mode for his product

This isn't an attempt to get standardized web page implementation. It is nothing but a marketing announcement where the Opera CTO is hyping his product. And dumping on MS. I've had much more success getting IE to render pages correctly than I ever had with Opera. And. yes, that may be because web site developers tuned their systems for IE. But guess what, I don't care. As long as most sites render in IE, I don't care what the standards are. And neither do 99% of internet users. The only ones that care are the people designing web sites.

How about ..
