Patriot Act Expansion
Intelligence Committee gives green light
The Senate Intelligence Committee approved expanding the Patriot Act yesterday, which could give the FBI new powers to subpoena ISP (or any other) data without a judge or grand jury approval. Several Congressmen who approved the changes said they'll work to include limitations as the bill moves forward. It remains strongly opposed by groups like the ACLU, who comment: "When lawmakers seek to rewrite our Fourth Amendment rights, they should at least have the gumption to do so in public."

Good decision

Our elected representatives, including most of the Democrats, know we are in a fight where the government needs the tools to fight a war where secret communications is a terrorist tool. And if some the ACLU and some privacy fanatics get their panties in a bunch, too bad.
