Is the DS falling behind? Why is it that 99% of these cracks and unlocks are availble for the PSP? Is it the DS is simply not capable of doing some of the things that the PSP is?

No, they're working on it. They already have DS rips (over 27) and ways to play them on a DS. It's just not as publicized. As for emulators, people can still use the DS's GBA feature and those emulators, so there isn't as much demand.

Re: Is the DS falling behind? One thing I forgot to mention is that becuase the DS doesn't have memory sticks like the DS, you need to buy special hardware. The current way uses a common flash card (that are used for digital cameras, etc) which plugs into a cartrdige that goes into the GBA port.

because nintendo knows how to secure their shit. 'nuff said. sony is too worried about hardware specs and hype to worry about security. in the end, they are the ones who are hurting.

Re: Is the DS falling behind?nintendo secure their shit????? You can go online right now and buy a gba 256bit cartrige and usb copier for 70 bucks, and emulate GB, GBC,GBA, NES, SNES, PC Engine, Z80, SEGA Game Gear and Master System roms to play on the DS, GBA, or GameCube. You can play GBA roms on the DS, I guess no one has found a way to get DS roms to work yet. I have had the GBA for over 3 years now and I have never bought one game for it.

It uses a memory swapping method; Ugg.Kudos to those who figured this out, but who in the heck wants to do a memory swap every time you need to "unlock" your PSP?

It's just like the kids in elementary school who call someone a baby cause they watch a particular TV show, and then all go home and watch that same TV show.

Some guy on /. suggested this: » www.amazon.com/exec/obid ··· 00A8XHI/said by Amazon.com: "The memory card integrates dual 128 MB memory units that can be selected with a mechanical switch, a unique feature that simplifies the categorization of data on the card."

I enjoy 3d gaming, but after playing some of the PSP games on the go, I'm not sure how much I like them when I'm in a moving vehicle. One of the PSP launch games was Lumines, which might as well be a NES game as far as graphic technology goes. There is much more to games than high end graphics. There are some great 3d games, but I enjoy playing Super Mario Brothers or even Ms. Pacman from time to time.

Buying a used SNES won't let them play the hundreds of pirated ROMs they have on their PC (and use with emulators on the PC). As far as the want to play them on the PSP instead of the PC, portability seems to be the no-brainer answer.

Maybe because the PSP has a large, gorgeous screen compared to the older generation of portable players? Perhaps it's somewhat cool to load a full library of games (many of which are arguably better than the limited PSP library) onto a single memory stick?
