Anyway's Microsoft shouldn't need claria, they if wanted could program their own spyware into windows and probably be able to get away with it/open Windows up to more infections.
I don't think theyre going to buy them then use the software... Or it's back to 100% mac os/linux for me! | |

Then companies will sprout up bearing the worst adware you can imagine with the sole purpose to be bought out (and shut down) by Microsoft. It will turn into a nice way to make a few million dollars relatively quickly.
I'm still scratching my head over this one, but I don't think Microsoft would plan on buying Claria just to shut it down. Then again, have we heard anything besides rumors on this? It could all be one big unfounded rumor that just got passed around one too many times.

| Microsoft - How can we spy on you today? On the OEM and Home products they will have this crap deeply within Windows. However on their Pro products it will be spyware free and the price will be jacked up. This is my prediction and I'm sticking to it.

| I dunno. Think about it. Windows is being used in over 90% of all computers in the world. It doesn't matter how much a company makes because they will always want to find ways to make more money since that's why stockholders invest in a company. Even if it was known that Microsoft has spyware in their machines how many of those 90%+ computers are going to switch to something else after they have gotten so used to Windows and how it works?
After all most spyware just looks at where you go online in order to send you advertising tailored to your apparent interests. Microsoft might see this as a cash cow in advertising. It's not much further from when they were loading up Windows 98' with various ISP offerings and links to specific commercial web sites. All Microsoft has to do is have a press conference telling everybody how their new "innovation" increases your "Internet experience" by having the web tailored to your interests. | |

BTW = Don't give me BS about Crossover or Wine or whatever. I want a native port, not some workaround. As long as people settle for wine type ports, the gaming publishers have no incentive to produce good quality Linux clients. | |
