| | | Re: 80 dollars a month? with 80 dollars a month i can invest it in the stock market lol instead of flapping my gums on a phone lol | |
|
| | | | Re: 80 dollars a month? $80 a month is for the data side only, so no flapping of any gums. | |
|
| | | | | Re: 80 dollars a month? And technically, you could sign up for the 20MB per month Sprint $40 plan, allowing you to flap gums and consume data. Though that cap is pretty mean for a "broadband" product.... | |
|
| | | | | | Re: 80 dollars a month? Well surfing on a wireless device can get pretty annoying, pretty fast. When I first got my blackberry, it was really cool to surf the internet anywhere I went. Now, I probably do less than a 100 kb a week and I'm on an unlimited corporate plan.
We have a bunch of verizon EVDO cards around the office. It's really cool to get near DSL speeds around town wirelessly on a laptop. BUT.... I don't know how EVDO will play out on a handheld. Again, the small screen gets annoying real fast.

| | | | | | | Re: 80 dollars a month? Prices are down to $59 with Verizon EVDO. | |

|
| | | Re: RE:evdo nope you need a 5220 card or the newer expensive one and what verzion calls a broadband connection then you get the near dsl speeds and good signal strength | |

| | So what is up with EV-DO on the i730 I cannot get ANY onfo from the morons at the Verizon stores.
Does anyone know if I can get the i730 with unlimited EV-DO service and use it to get my laptop to the net via Bluetooth or dongle or both...or not at all?
My current understanding is that if I want to get a laptop online, I need a seperate PCMCIA EV-DO card for the laptop...and that cannot be tied to the service I already will be ordering on the i730. So now I have to get 2 EV-DO contracts if I want the PDA and Laptop to get online with my choice of end-device.
It looks like VZ is dropping the Ball AGAIN. They will lose out on EV-DO and Cellular contracts. Looks like the Sprint Launch Countdown begins now. What are these morons thinking with these kinds of decisions?

| | | Yep, you can tether the i730 to your laptop with USB to get EVDO or 1XRTT, and bluetooth compatibility is on the way. check out the forums at pdaphonehome.com for more info. Also, you only need the $45/month pda plan to use this feature. This feature is also available for the XV6600, and it already works for bluetooth. $45 per month for unlimited EVDO and laptop connection capability is not a bad price at all | |
|
| | | | Re: So what is up with EV-DO on the i730 Sorry Guys. I will check the forums, but I have bad News. I just got back from the VZW store. 1) They wont have these in stock for another month or so. 2) they are double in the store than what you can get them thru online pricing. 3) There is NO CAMERA. 4) YOU CANNOT USE THEM TO TETHER TO A LAPTOP TO BE USED AS A MODEM. This is the case for via BlueT, USB, or otherwise. The DOPE went on to try the Cable TV theft analogy .It Broke down and he didnt know how to respond. If I have Digital Cable and I have 5 TV's...I pay the $80/mo for the service and the first TV...Plus $5 for the additional TV's/mo. I also asked if I got the unlimited EVDO on the i730 and requested to clone a PCMCIA card to use it with the laptop...he SAID NO. YOUR STILL A THIEF and we wont let u do that. VZ's solution is to buy 2 unlimited EVDO accounts $80x2=$160, plus the $700 i730 with Camera delete. And I forgot to ask about Wi-fi. These People are insane. I can do without a phone for the months before Sprint goes live. I knew it would turn out this way. The have the Audacity to call this the TREO650 Killer? On who's Network??? F U VERIZON. U CONTINUE TO SUCK EVERYDAY. | |
|
| | | | | Re: So what is up with EV-DO on the i730 Oh yeah, forgot to add... 3 other people waited in line for over 90 minutes along with me to get the i730. Regardless of the fact that it was more expensive and they didnt have ANY IN STOCK. As soon as they overheard my questioning of the rep...they walked out along with me. We discussed how INSANE VZW is about not being able to use the EV-DO with a laptop. We also discussed looking into SPRINT for their EVDO countdown now. Probably another fuitless countdown. This SUCKS. I want Ricochet back! | |

You are the dumbass for asking if it is OK. Of course they don't want you to do that, why do you think they sell the broadband access card.
Why don't you just order the thing through telesales? You can return it within 15 days if you don't like it, plus the CSR's are a lot more knowledgeable. I will never buy a phone from a store even if they have it in stock.

| | | | | | | Re: So what is up with EV-DO on the i730 The Last thing I need is to be doing something that someone has deemed to be illegal. I dontneed to be sitting there using it for what it should be intended for, only to find that when I need it the most...the account has been FROZEN and/or cancelled. Integrity is KEY. They should have SOME. | |

heee @ny325.east.verizon.n | EVDO NOT! they have to be out of their minds. This product will not be successful at $80.00 dollars a month will low speeds and capping. A product like this should be $20.00 a month

| | Got new card from eBay Just got a Kyocera KPC650 card from eBay for $230 from a seller NEWDEAL549. I wanted to upgrade from my PC5220 card and already have an account with Verizon. The card works great on my Sony T250 laptop and actually I am posting from my 17" Powerbook a this time after downloading software from the net for the Mac. The card was brand new sealed in its facory case. Anyway I am posting for those who don't know; Verizon has lowered the price from $80/month to $59 per month.
I am noticing I get the full 4 bars signal strength on the Mac and only 3 on the PC laptop, but that's cool.
|
| | KPC650 disconnecting with Powerbook While I am downloading or updating stuff on the net the KPC650 stays connected but the moment I stop it disconnects about 15 seconds into any idle time. Any ideas would be appreciated. | |
|
| | | Re: KPC650 disconnecting with Powerbook Solution: I use an internet radio station while web surfing. My powerbook stays connected now. Wish there was a better way though. | |
