| Here's a Piece of Advice Dump the whole sorry company in the trash. Put it down like a rabid dog.
AOL has been a company in search of a business model for close to five years now. Time for the management to put it out of our misery. I'm sure I'll get flamed to death by the "My mother loves AOL" and the "I've had my *.*@aol.com email address for ten years" crowd but it's time to draw the curtains on the whole sorry affair.
All they can manage to muster over the last couple of months is this "/discuss" nonsense. "Do YOU think the Internet is a good idea?" Is Freedom of Speech a good idea? "Do chili farts leave skidmarks?" Give me a break!
Wind it up and return the money to the shareholders!

To paraphrase a comment made on Cnet - If AOL ceased to exist today - say Time Warner sold the company and gave the money back to the shareholders - nobody outside the company would care. Another ISP would simply slide into place and the mediocrity would continue unabated.

| Re: No more cds said by Transmaster :I don't know why but I have not received a AOL disk in a couple of years, thank you AOL, and thank you Earthlink for all of those nice DVD cases. I think it is funny the managers at Time Warner are looking hard at this AOL leech that has attached itself to them they are trying to find ways of reducing it's feeding on the cash flow of the corporation, and Shaw-Zaam look Google is making all kinds of money from advertising and they are not pissing people off doing it, hmmmm I wonder; they think to themselves we have all of this cool, in their own minds, content we could sell ads on. Well I am sorry Time Warner all of that AOL content is like a bucket full of dried out dog turds not even the flies are interested. I haven't received one of those in ages either. Get a PeoplePC one every once in a while though. I've actually used those several times in the past to hook people up. I'd take PeoplePC over AOHELL anyday. -- Spread Free Opera. Check out AOL.com.. Look familiar? They have 2GB free mail, Google search, a large library of free TV (which will be getting bigger soon) and lots of other things that make them comparable to MSN or Yahoo.com | |

| Re: AOL become a Yahoo.com or MSN.com ?? I read it everyday. Mostly their front page news articles, and their money section. Both are very good. I don't use their free email though, their AIM Pro is very good (AIM pro is the new IM for business they just released, I think its much better then even AIM Triton). | |

| said by GOLFnSUN :Somehow I doubt that AOL trying to turn itself into a desirable free web portal like Yahoo.com or MSN.com will ever happen successfully. No matter how hard they may try to become that, I just don't see it happening. TW should spin off AOL and let it swim or sink on its own - probably sink. As long as AOL charges for service, they will be perceived as a company who charges for something that they can get for free elsewhere. Adopting a free web portal policy will take them a step further to being viewed as a peer of Yahoo or Google. | |

| Youtube competitor? Looks like they also have a "take off" of youtube now also: »uncutvideo.aol.com
I messed around with this site, and one thing I like is that you can edit the video right as you upload. This is due to the videoegg software you install, I think thats pretty sweet and youtube should copy that feature.

| UGH! Poeple kill me! AOL is making money. Why do you gate AOL so much? YOu surely wouyld not be here if it weren't for the likes of AOL, or a Prodigy, or a Compuserve!
Stop hating, because you didn't get a Job working there.......lol Focus your anger and bitterness towards something more important like hatred, and injustice in the world. Make a difference in your life, instead of bashing a company worth more than you or your family for life.
It would be a great thihgs if you were to put your money where your mouth is. Everyone seems to know what's good for people, so why not start your own start up and become a billionaire, like the kids from Yahoo, Google, and so many other well known companies out there. I am sick and tired of hearing the same old smut about how you hate AOL here, you hate them there. U know what? SO WHAT!
If AOL can get people to pay for what they offer, then they are ok in my book and a winner in my eyes. ROCK ON AOL!

Yes Poeple [sic] kill me too! BTW, if AOL is making money, why are they flailing around in search of a viable business model? Hmm??? I gate [sic] AOL so much because the time has come for them to pack it in. They can no longer make money for shareholders so they should fold the company and return the money to the shareholders.
I'm not the most technically savvy person, but I sure as hell have never needed AOL to dumb down the Internet for me.
PS - if you're so positive on AOL, why aren't you using them? Are you paying $20 a month on top of OOL? -- the jam econo...makes a stench.

| Fine AOL AOL needs to be fined for sending millions of unwanted discs to peoples residences. Not only does this pollute the environment, it costs us taxpayer money by clogging up our landfills.
This strategy is very similiar to how a spammer works, they send tons of junk to countless peoples inboxes, knowing at least a few unfortunate people will sign up.
