| For kids you can't trust with a cell phone quite yet because you KNOW they will go over the minutes or something. Just depends on the situation. Some people think its useless to have home and cell. Some people HAVE to have home service still due to various reasons. | |

Someone is not less likely to get a wireless phone just because they have VOIP through their cable provider. | |

I totally understand what your saying but my point is in a time of rising interest rates, credit card payments, mortgages, fuel, food and clothing, what average everyday working American can truly justify it unless they have cut back on other expenses to make it fit into their budget?
Fours years ago I chose to go strictly mobile because I wanted the savings on the landline to go towards my savings for a house. But that was my choice. I do understand that others might not think its a big deal. | |

The point of my post was that I myself don't think too many folks are gonna fall for getting a cell phone from a cable company when they already have VOIP or vice versa. I don't care about who they get it from I'm just saying that I belive more and more people are seeing two telephones as a luxury and not a necessity. | |

1 edit | Re: I Wonder.......... Comcast is paying me $30's a month (plus I don't have to pay Verizon $50's a month for my old line) for the next year to provide me with a landline. (digital voice whatever). So umm, yeah, it's affordable. Hoping that I'll be wired with fiber by the time the year is up so I can go to a similar deal Verizon will undoubtedly provide.
We also have two cell phones with a cingular family package. If comcast wants to offer me more money (take more money off my bill) to provide service to my cell phones as well, I'll be happy to sign up. | |

Both are needed, until you can have multiple phone's hooked up to the same cell service line. | |

As Far As Quadruple Play Goes, It'll Be Interesting To See What Spin Companies Could Use To Successfully Incorporate This.
Myself, I Still Use Copper Since VoIP Doesn't Seem To Have Matured Yet (Quality Sound w/Reliable Connection). I'll Wait It Out And See What Future Packages Hold. With Rumors (whether true or not) Of Services Like VoIP (or any telephone type service as we use to know it) Becoming Free In The Future, I'm In No Rush To Invest In Technology Today That May Be Free Tomorrow (not literally tomorrow but sometime in the future).

I could deal without a Cell Phone if I lived in the city as well.. but since there's a possibility I could be broken down in the middle of nowhere, again it's a safety issue.

| Most family's don't live alone by definition. Therefore you need both. If you're not home most of the time, then these businesses are not marketing their services to you. Most homeowners are also family's, because if you're single it's an awful lot of expense to own a home that is usually empty.
Therefore MANY others DO need both. Of course the world should probably just be tailored toward you, your friends, and apparently single family. | |

| more hype on the triple/quadruple play as much as this gets hyped in the press and by the telcos and cablecos, the fact is apparently very few people actually sign up for all services from one company. Data shows that most people are taking one, or at most two, services.
Oh, and how about this comment:

| Considering how everyone in my family has a cell phone We still have a house phone. Why? Because you never know when you need it, 911 is a good example, also, fax machines, and a backup telephone line if your high speed internet goes down, you can use dialup.
