CALIFORNIA for the love of peet moss.
The State provides (or mandates) EVERYTHING in California. How could you possibly be left wanting?
Somebody call up Susan Sarandon and demand answers!
I'm sure it was just an oversight. Royal California Light and Fiber should be rolling FiOS to your door any second now.

| upload speeds need to increase I'm glad standard users in select TWCNY areas are getting decent speeds of 10/1. But why are premium users also getting 1mbps upload even though downstream gets a boost to 15mbps? I believe all areas should have at least 2mbps upload for premium customers. Cable in fact is capable of more upstream, so why not offer an elite extreme tier that would give users 30/2 or 20/3 or something nice that shows off more of the upstream? Hell why not even try a 3/3 tier or something like that? I've never seen an industry so afraid to use their technology. Let's show off what this stuff is really capable of! | |

Sadly TWC doesn't upgrade all their systems, only select markets. Living in the Cincinnati, Ohio area we will probably not get this upgrade to standard anytime soon...

| Not in Kansas City I called the local TWC office in Kansas City. Fortunatly, they are NOT upgrading the speeds in Kansas City. Kansas City area residents should be content with 5M/384K. It looks like Time Warner is only deploying where FIOS or LightSpeed is offering higher speeds.
I guess I'll keep my 6M/768K DSL for a little longer.

| 10/1 - not in NYC As far as I know, the new standard rate in NYC will be 7MBs down and 512kbps up. I WISh it would goto 10/1 or 10/2 like Cablevision customers are getting. That, at least, would compete directly with FIOS and RR's better network backbone would make them the best choice for broadband. Unfortunately, it looks like that's not going to happen.
And, of course, NO one at Time Warner seems to be making any announcements, but the rumors are that there is an upgrade in progress, there are problems, and that it all should be completed in NYC by mid-September. Hmm... -- Larry Seltzer larry@theseltzers.com
