Cingular: You are Not Profitable Tales of the not economically feasible Thursday Sep 21 2006 11:15 EDT We've previously discussed how Cingular was tagging certain accounts as "unprofitable" if the user uses too much data or roamed too frequently. Those customers then were either let out of their contract and nudged out the door, or punished by forcing them to upgrade to new phones at full price. Now several readers have submitted this Consumerist story, which explores the story of one customer, who came to Cingular when her previous wireless phone provider was acquired. After a few months of service she received a letter asking her to voluntarily discontinue her service because more than 50% of her calls were using competing networks and she was no longer economically feasible for Cingular. |

What's the big deal?As longs as Cingular is not violating the contracts they have with their customers, who cares if they lawfully encourage the unprofitable ones to switch? | | |
