| Class action lawsuit anyone? Seems like Verizon didn't learn from the snafu with the Motorola v710 that was advertised as being able to 'transfer files wirelessly (bluetooth)' when in fact they had crippled the bluetooth stack.
More and more, I want to drop Verizon Wireless for these kind of tactics. Contract is up in March!

| TOS for verizon sucked. I have since turned my EVDO service into a canceled service and won my early termination fees waived due to the fact the in store manager lied about the unlimited bandwidth he stated when he sold me the service and card. He denied the fact at first but after enough argueing I won my case. I'm not going to pay $60 a month for service that can only be used for emails and web when I need remote access to the office in emergency cases.
Not only is this about evdo but now apparently if your a new customer for 2006. The battery in the phone that you purchased is no longer covered under the one year warranty on the phone but instead prorated for the months it was used towards a discount on a replacement battery. They are really starting to due practices that will drive customers away such as my self.

They are really starting to due practices that will drive customers away such as my self. As I sit here and type this with my EVDO connection ....
I became a cell phone customer for the first time in about 13 years in June. I jumped on a EVDO card to get around our draconian net nanny limitations at work. I went ahead and got the phone even though I never use it just because it was cheaper than getting the card by itself. I selected a Razr V3m.
The battery immediately sucked. With in 2 weeks I took it back and they wouldn't replace it giving me all sorts of crap about how close to the cell tower I was to how much I used it to how bluetooth being on would run the battery out.
Bluetooth stays off, battery saver stays on and if I use the phone 60 minutes a month, it is rare. So I sat on it. And let it go for awhile and noticed the battery getting worse.
I go by the store yesterday. "All we can do is offer you a 50% discount on a new one" My respone? "OH *HELL* NO*. I firmly told the lady that I would not accept that. I told her I'd been in the store to complain about it - which they didn't record in my record, and I was told to watch it. So now, 3 months later (I'm in month 4 now) I was out of warranty (allegedly its a 3 month warranty) which was *NOT* communicated to me when I got the phone and when I got the extended warranty stuff. I told her to get her manager.
I heard her go back to her manager and tell her my problem. The manager asked how long it had been and she said the battery was 4 months old. The manager said 4 months? Give him a new one.
I got my new battery. Dunno how much better it is going to be. We'll see.
I've got co-workers with V3c's and those things go 3 and 4 days with constant use and I can't get 6 hours out of mine with NO use.
Oh, and 4 bars of signal, all the time.

Well glad you got your battery replaced but it took 45 minutes on the phone with customer service who agreed with me and a jerk manager who wanted to run his own program to finally get the battery replaced free of charge.

*228 is BS. It updates your ROAMING lists, not the towers you can use. Really only has an effect on areas you may visit that are not native VZW.
Then again, I left VZW for Cingular 3 years ago and have been 100000x happier. I still have a VZW phone for work that I pull out occasionally to remind myself how sucky they are.

More specifically, *228 gives you ACCESS to a particular CITY of towers or network of towers, *228 will never add ONE tower, atmost groups of them, and Verizon doesnt usually have roaming in its home territory (I wish it did).

| Just to be an annoying devil's advocate, as I understand it, Verizon and VZW are not actually the same company. VZW is a separate organisation, joint-owned by Verizon and Vodafone plc of England (best known as the former shirt sponsor of Manchester United).
Some of the things VZW does annoy me, but since I'm only using my cellphone for plain old calls, I'm still content with them. Besides, Cingular coverage in my area is atrocious. -- With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

| Corporate Double Speak I found this extremely interesting from the PCS Intel article:
"As this article was going to press, Verizon did indeed confirm in a statement to PCS Intel that the TV ad demonstrated video playing from the device, and not streaming, despite all other features shown in the ad taking place over-the-internet." Isn't there some kind of rule that if a reasonable person would make a reasonable assumption...
I would think it's EXTREMELY reasonable for a reasonable person to reasonably assume that the video being displayed is streaming video... not a local stream. But then... maybe I am being unreasonable.

Eitehr way I see it as fraud. Imagine if Kia advertised "America's Best Warranty" and said it was a 10 year warranty but in fine print it says the warranty is void if you drive more than 1,000 miles a year. -- Am Heimcomputer sitz' ich hier, und programmier' die Zukunft mir

| Never ceases to amaze me That the megacorps can so blatantly LIE about what they are selling, and get away with it. The word 'UNLIMITED' means just that, without limits. If there are ANY LIMITS (time/bandwidth/anything), then the shouldn't be allowed to use the term unlimited. Too bad the FCC and the government in general is controlled by the megacorps already. If the government was BY the people, and FOR the people, we wouldn't have all these lies in advertising, but I guess I'm just too much of a realist to ever expect that to happen. -- Stick it to the MAN. | Can You Sue Me Now? Either they need to "Put out or shut up". This is silly. On one hand they promote the service and features, then on the other, they clamp down and lock you out.
I understand the limiting use to email and browsing, as it does task the system if every EVDO user were to start streaming on the cells, but it is misleading to advertise that you get this great device, with great features, then throttle it.
Oh wait, doesn't Netflix do that too?

Well then Mz manager why is it when I am sitting right next to a verizon tower it stil happens! OH well you still need to do it blah blah blah. Then it was the next issue it could be your phone charger they ruin batteries then why do you sell them! UMM UMM its not the phone charge Ms manager as it charges then stops and trickle charges after that so it does NOT over charge the battery!
Then I love how thier techs "test the battery" they stick a $10 volt ohmeter to it and say HMM 3.3 volts nope its not over charged or undercharged!! Why dont the stick it on a laod tester then you will see the problem.
Ohh Then it must be the firmware hmm no you have the latest software well the most I can do is give you 25% discount. Verizon store techs and managers are useless as tits on a bull!!
They have no fricken clue! If nextel had better coverage we would go back to that!
THe razer was notorias for having crappy battery life and I think they did have a recall on a few of them if I remember correctly..
