AT&T today officially announced the availability of high-definition programming via their new Motorola IPTV U-Verse set-top boxes. They've also officially unveiled the new web remote that lets you manage your DVR from any internet-connected computer. "Since we launched AT&T U-verse in San Antonio earlier this year, we've told our customers that HD was on the way," says Brooks McCorcle, vice president and general manager of the South Texas region. "Today we proudly deliver that promise of HD programming and other great new features."

AT&T has insisted U-Verse will be launched in 15-20 markets before the end of this year. There were some rumors last month that AT&T overspent has had slowed deployment, but AT&T insists that the project is on schedule. U-Verse Users proclaims that a Houston launch should be announced "any day now."

Deployment hasn't slowed around here...

I don't know if ATT is planning a release in Southwest St. Louis county, but beige AT&T boxes are spreading like wildfire. There's been AT&T trucks and vans working all over the place in Fenton.

Here in San Ramon, CA too. Lots of activity going on. I spotted a lot of new boxes with meters on them.

They've probably covered about 80% (possibly more) of Santa Clarita/Valencia, CA.
My neighborhood falls into the 20% of non-coverage and according to my last call to AT&T, they don't plan on anymore.

Deployment hasn't even started in San Jose yet. Maybe we'll see something happening here at the end of 2007?

HD in SA

It's a good thing. My bro-in-law, who lives in S.A., was at my house over Thanksgiving watching all the ball games in HD over my Fios setup. He was drooling heavily by the time he left and said he has "limited" programming from his new AT&T service. I guarantee AT&T will be getting a call from him this week.
