AT&T $19.95 Naked DSL Soon
768kbps, in markets with 80% penetration...
There have been a lot of complaints lately about how AT&T does offer "naked" DSL in some areas, but prices it so you pay more if you decide to unbundle local phone service. With the BellSouth merger, however, that's about to change: AT&T will offer $19.95 naked 768kbps sometime in the next year, but only in markets that see 80% DSL coverage. Also available sometime in the next six months: a $10 768kbps tier offered if you bundle in the company's phone service.

Some people actually can benefit from this..

Something like this would be great for my mother who is on a limited income and doesn't require a lot of speed. Too bad people here can't see around their "I hate AT&T" glasses long enough to realize that this is a step in the right direction. One that may well lead to other steps.
