Upgraded markets see 10Mbps standard/15Mbps Premium
(old news - 10:05AM Monday Mar 05 2007)

Time Warner Cable's sporadic speed upgrade schedule rolls on, with forum users alerting us that Time Warner Cable in Albany, New York, is now offering 15Mbps/1Mbps premium speed tiers. As we've previously mentioned, Time Warner upgrades their markets first based on competitive pressure. Competitive markets see 15Mbps premium and 10Mbps standard tiers, while many other markets are still seeing 7Mbps or 5Mbps standard downstream speeds. This long thread in our forums can keep Time Warner Cable customers up to speed on which markets have been upgraded.

Re: 5/384 here yet

I'm in the Columbus market (transferred from the old WOH-Northwest Div.) and we receive 5/384. Their but the old Adelphia areas (Marion for one) has 5/512). The speeds in general are not the same even in the same market. With TWC/RR it depends anymore about their mood that day of the week.

Re: SoCal

Yep, Socal is now:

10/1 for premium. $54.95
6/512 for standard. $44.95
2/384 for lite. $34.95

Except for Huntington Beach where they have FIOS to compete with.... Premium there is 15/2, and I don't know about standard.

Ex-Adelphia here and I was upgraded a couple of weeks ago. You are right about the customer support sucking.

Not available in Westminster just next door. They said 8m/512k is not changing. I've switched to FiOS.

Damn... only 10Mbps/1Mbps ($57.99) Premium here. Come on with that 15Mbps download here in Dallas... There's FiOS all over town (at least in the northern suburbs...)

5MB / 384KBps in Raleigh NC.

I could pay $10 more to get 8 / 512, but have a big problem with getting ripped off.
I told them to give us 8 / 512 for the regular price....
But, USA needs to stay behind all the other countries, since King Bushie is running the show.

In Canada if they double your speed they double your cost

Yes if you want more speed in Canada you pay through the nose. Many are just going back to dial up from America as caps, speed throttling and no newsgroups have all but killed the internet up here. Might i add ridiculously high prices?

I was unaware you were the arbiter of relevancy here at DSLR. The fact that these upgrades come at no charge is certainly something to discuss as well.

My bad. I thought the thread was about the Roll out of higher speeds by TWC an American Company, not about the cost or the restrictions on some Canadian ISPs.

Free is always good, but thats the way the cable industry has been doing it for years.

nothing wrong with someone providing a reality check to those here who complain about price ignorant of what the alternative might be.

Very few cable systems have 2.0. the next upgrade will be with docsis 3.0 and they will skip the 2.0 system.

Most of the Adelphia systems had DOCSIS 2.0 gear rolled out, it just was used in DOCSIS 2.0 mode unless needed...

No Change here... Still getting about 9M down and 700up, I'm on the premium tier, and honestly, the speed was better when comcast was running the show, I'd consistently get 800-850 up, and about 11 down.
