Alltel Flirting With Sprint, AT&T
Sale rumors persist...
Analysts last week speculated that Verizon was interested
in grabbing Alltel, but Dow Jones
notes that the company is also whispering sweet nothings into the ears of AT&T and Sprint. Alltel is the nation's fifth largest wireless phone company, serves twelve million customers and is valued around $22 billion. Geographically, the company owns the nation's largest wireless network, though they have one-fifth the subscriber total of AT&T and Verizon. The report says Sprint makes the best partner because of CDMA use, but Sprint is still struggling
with the acquisition of Nextel.
