For users who order online

It looks like Verizon has reintroduced their $14.99 768kbps DSL offer after raising the price to $19.95 last December. Verizon is also offering 3 Mbps service for $19.99 a month for the first six months (after which it increases to $29.99). The lower speed $15 tier helped the telco break quarterly subscriber addition records last year as cheap thrifty dial-up users were finally lured to broadband.

Re: Verizon please come to Miami

Yes, because the AT&T rates have yet to take effect. Still lovin' Bellsouth prices in the southeast.

The former Bellsouth area AT&T is still higher than the rest of the country as they don't compete in their pricing.

»bellsouth.com/consumer/inetsrvcs/index.html

DSL Lite $24.95 - 256 Kbps/128 Kbps Maximum Downstream/Upstream
DSL Ultra $32.95 - 1.5 Mbps/256 Kbps Maximum Downstream/Upstream
DSL Xtreme $37.95 - 3 Mbps/384 Kbps Maximum Downstream/Upstream
DSL Xtreme 6.0 $42.95 - 6 Mbps/512 Kbps Maximum Downstream/Upstream

Former SBC areas are much more competitive.

Doctor Olds

Re: Verizon please come to Miami

ah. so AT&T brings everyone together under the new umbrella....but just leaves the prices higher in bell south areas. nice. i didn't think it was possible for me to despise them any more, but here we are.

Re: Verizon please come to Miami

Relax...As much as you hate ATT, its just not as simple to go changing rates at the flip of a hat. Bellsouth has a completely different billing system/ordering system, then ATT does that has to be rewritten, and checked before distributed for use. The merger just completed the first of the year. Give them some time to absorb Bellsouth geeze..

let's review the facts, shall we?

you're saying that AT&T prepared their new marketing campaign (the biggest in history, i believe) that incorporates rebranding all the pieces in AT&T's puzzle, but we're suppose to believe that they can't handle changing the existing more expensive BellSouth rates to the less expensive AT&T rates in a timely manner?

not buying it. they could have prepared for this in advance, just like they did with marketing. AT&T just didn't want to do that. it boils down to money and how they love it more than their children.

knowing AT&T, i believe that the BellSouth rates are what will be pushed on the rest of the country. more revenue, delievered to stockholders!

Re: Verizon please come to Miami

If it were about a price increase you know AT&T would have figured out how to get it done yesterday.

And that is a rip compared to Verizon's 20/5 fios which is bundle priced at 39.95.

@rr.com

I upgraded to cantennas and I dont pay anything other than the initial investment for a tin can. And I get over 3Mb DL rate too. Although the upload rate really sucks at like 350Kb. Maybe I'll get off my duff and complain sometime. )))))

Re: Verizon please come to Miami

well great as long as you get permission in most cases ISP's call it steeling as long as you don't have a conscience.

Re: Verizon please come to Miami

It really doesnt matter if I have permission or not. The ISPs cant make a buck when a paying customer decides to share what he has paid for. So ISPs will still call it stealing and wimper and jump up and down to try and put a stop to it. But since network companies and hakers invented NAT for cheap routers, there isnt much those ISP mogals can do about it. The will of the people is wireless good will to their fellow man. Thats why there are so many open wireless hotspots. I love this universe.

Tell me about it - I'm at $45 (plus the fees) for 3000/512 with Embarq while other areas are $10 cheaper - same company/same speeds.

Renewal after going to retention. That is what I did despite the fine print saying (new users only).

The price doesn't change as long as the user renews their contract each yr.

Good deal

Let's hope that becomes the standard across the industry.

to get that deal?
This is a great price for 768k service but for those who have dropped the landlines in favor of cell and/or VOIP,
that landline costs just eats up any savings.

466 Kbps @ $29 is what you get...

I rarely get above 550 here, not an area where every house is on-line either. New contract is due soon, I think I'll bitch a bit louder than I did last year. They sent an e-mail telling me that a new price was going into effect, then recinded the offer. A sick April Fools joke every year.

Doesn't sound like it is your business...unless you get paid for it in which case consider it job security.

DSL will continue to beat cable in new adds

Maybe Brian 'Leased BMW' Roberts will get the clue that price, not speed, is king as he trades HSI subs for POTS subs.

Love my Verizon DSL

3Mbps/768Kbps for $29.95/month, can't ask for much more, have had it for over 2 yrs (27 months to be exact) now. Only other broadband here is Optimum Online which is a true ripoff at $49.95. I love the speed, reliability, and price of my Verizon DSL. Never had any rate hikes. The $14.99 tier sounds great for those who are still on dialup, and can upgrade to broadband for basically what they are paying now. For the more regular user, the 3Mbps/768Kbps for $29.95 is perfect.
