Zune 2.0 Details Leaked
Hopefully this time with useful Wi-Fi?
Gizmodo links to leaked details on Microsoft's Zune development, an employee letting loose that Zune 2.0 and a new flash-based Zune will be available before the year's end. Zune 2.0 will be thinner with more storage capacity, and the smaller (3 by 1 1/4 by 1/4 inches) flash player will have Wi-Fi. No word on if the Wi-Fi on both versions is as gimped as the first incarnation, something that annoyed some the first time around. Users looking for useful broadband connectivity may have to wait for Microsoft's upper 700Mhz mystery device.

Just got my 1.0

I just picked up a Zune this morning. I'm going to give it a trial run, but I wonder if I should be waiting for the 2.0 to come out... if only we had dates. I'm kind of hopeful that Microsoft will cave with some of the features and update the firmware on the 1.0 version.

I've had one since Christmas. I love the subscription feature.

Oddly enough, it shares as well as my ipod does.

lol It actually alot better than my ipod video in all honesty. Easier to add vids and music by far. I don't miss Itunes at all. I still use itunes occasionally for quick tv show downloads and that's about the only reason I kept the ipod vid.

Strange thing is of the 8 people in my office 4 have Zunes and I have a Dell DJ. My battery on my DJ is slowing loosing its zing so im gonna have to buy another player soon. Definitely don't want an iPod (nothing against it, I just hate having the same thing so many other people do) and am considering the Zune but not until they fix the sharing feature and hopefully they will add some dedicated buttons for volume control.

No, not the second person to buy a Zune, not by a
longshot. But more likely the second power user
technogeek/advanced types, since hardcore users
are more likely to embrace less restrictive
and proprietary standards.

I have had mine for 4 months know. I loved it. The screen is so good for videos, specially in those 2-3 hour flights were the only entertainment is a can of soda.

Zune 2.0 sounds interesting enough

I'd be interested in this redesign. The first Zune offered too little, and was way too late..Zune would have been perfect if it was released around the same time as the iPod Video, but it wasn't and all you really have is a Video iPod with a different brand and lower storage capacity with worse battery.

Zune n iPod

The ipod and zune isnt the only option out there for portable multimedia entertainment is there? Arent there less known companies out there selling some PMP's that could squabble with the best toys?

Re: Zune n iPod

Yeah there are plenty CHEAPER and BETTER alternatives to the iPod and Zune, Sansa SDMX4 for example is $176 for 8GB at AMAZON and has more features than both the Zune or iPod.

I'll stick with my Creative Zen Vision M with its better video codec support (and a host of other things) for the time being.
