Just about everything within this world is "dangerous" and will cause some sort of health problems. The air we breathe can cause health problems (pollution, etc), the additives in food can cause health problems (also food such as greasy hamburgers, deep fried food, etc, clogs your arteries and increases the chances of shortening your life)... I can go on and on. If someones going to make a big deal out of things like this, then create a website simply stating "living on earth causes health problems". Give it a rest and stop worrying about everything. Besides, worrying about WiFi "radiation" will cause you great amounts of stress, causing your hair to turn white and cutting your life in half . -- If you miss 1 day, you notice; you miss 2 days, your band notices; 3 days, the crowd notices....

2 edits | we haven't evolved too much We, as humans, haven't changed all that much. We are still ever since caveman days with that whole fire thing, scared of what we don't know or understand. When something happens that we don't understand or can't explain, we simply associate it with the worst possible scenario. It's happened for tens of thousands of years and it will continue to happen... long after we're all gone and someone happens to find this thread in a time capsule on a users' maxtor hard drive 100 years from now. Then it will probably be deemed that older technology probably shortened the users' life.
whew! Done ranting.
Edit: Interesting point of note. I just called The contact 800 number on their website and spoke to a "sue". She simply answered as "this is Sue". I retored back with "this is a sane human being, let's talk about Wifi" She proceeded to say that I will have a shortened life and I'm killing my neighbors. At that point, after her short rant, she hung up on me.
I think the conversation went well...

| Re: Crazy, Crazy, and Crazier I don't see what the big deal is, radiation isn't bad for you. There are no studies linking radiation and cancer. Low/high power levels of radiation it's all the same. Just wondering wifi operates 2.4 GHz right? Doesn't the kitchen microwave operate at the same frequency? The only difference is power level dissipation. Also I am sure that the 2nd and 3rd harmonics don't cause any problems off of the original frequency. I can't see wifi being bad for you, it's only up to 30mW. The antenna is like only 12-24 inches away from your body when you use your laptop every days for years right.
I just wish these crazy people would stop with all this radiation crap. Maybe they should wrap themselves in tin foil.

Poison is in the dose- the same goes for radiation. Every second of every day of our lives our bodies are struck (and penetrated) by cosmic radiation- neutrinos, gamma rays, alpha and beta rays, etc.

You would see what the big deal is if you ever took a course in radiation physics. I was an x-ray tech for over 20 years and the only completely safe dose for ionizing radiation is no dose. The rest is just a numbers game and probabilities. While RF, MW, ELF and other such forms of radiation do not pose the same type of risk to the human body as ionizing radiation does, the risk is still there due to thermal and other forms of risk. See here for a list of several studies: » www.wave-guide.org/library/studies.html If RF does harm to humans, than I would expect visible light to do a lot more harm since visible light has more power than RF. -- My pbase gallery

RF creates thermal energy in cells:
"Similar to laser energy, the thermal effect of RF energy on tissues is dependent on the level of energy, duration of application, and the nature of the tissues. In addition, the electrode type (monopolar vs. bipolar), size, and shape can each have an effect on the tissue.
Although RF devices and lasers differ fundamentally in the way they generate heat within a tissue, both classes of devices are capable of producing temperatures within the rage considered necessary for collagen denaturation and subsequent tissue shrinkage (65°C-75°C). When collagen is heated to 65°C, its heat-labile, intramolecular cross-links are broken, and the protein undergoes a transition from a highly organized crystalline structure to a random, gel-like state (denaturation). Collagen shrinkage occurs through the cumulative effect of the "unwinding" of the triple helix due to the destruction of the heat-labile intramolecular cross-links and the residual tension of the heat-stable intermolecular cross-links. However, it must be remembered that when it comes to cell viability and tissue response, heat is heat. Once critical temperatures are reached, cells will die (45°C) and collagen will become denatured (65°C), no matter what the source of energy."

Take some science classes, you'll be amazed at what you'll learn. BTW, never say something like 'visible light has more 'power' than RF'. As Einstein would say, all things are relative and it depends on the exact conditions under study. A candle produces visible light but I'll go near that energy source any day before I'd even consider going near a military ballistic missile warning radar horn which is producing RF at (using the old BMEWS system as a guide- 1 is still operational) 2.5MW. -- Always Reach Beyond Your Grasp
