| Re: Cock and Bull story This won't deter the crackpots. They fear the radiation from the Access Points used by others will harm their little children, who of course follow mommy and daddy's restrictions and NEVER talk on a cellphone, NEVER use a computer, NEVER eat junk food, and NEVER have fun....
Remember, when you're a crackpot, it's very important not just to do irrational things yourself, but to force others to do the same irrational things you do--so you don't feel so irrational.

| Apparently call phones are safe again. Maybe they should let kids use school "computer time" to make calls from their cell phones since they seem to be less of a concern now that wireless is killing us.

| Oh, the irony! I find it incredibly ironic how people can jump to the unfounded conclusion that wi-fi is dangerous, yet they have no problem chowing down on Big Macs, Whoppers, fries, and other high-calorie, high-cholesterol foods that most certainly will shorten their lives, all while puffing away on a cigarette.
God forbid that people should tackle the dangers they know about instead of worrying about things that haven't been shown to harm anyone.
But yes, that cell phone certainly does have the potential to shorten your life...when you have it glued to your ear while driving like an idiot because you can't focus on the road.

| We're paying the price for lousy science education ... If the level of general science knowledge among the population was a little bit bit better than what it is now (i.e., abyssmal), we wouldn't be having this problem. | Re: We live in... I don't see what the big deal is, radiation isn't bad for you. There are no studies linking radiation and cancer. Low/high power levels of radiation it's all the same. Just wondering wifi operates 2.4 GHz right? Doesn't the kitchen microwave operate at the same frequency? The only difference is power level dissipation. Also I am sure that the 2nd and 3rd harmonics don't cause any problems off of the original frequency. I can't see wifi being bad for you, it's only up to 30mW. The antenna is like only 12-24 inches away from your body when you use your laptop every days for years right.
I just wish these crazy people would stop with all this radiation crap. Maybe they should wrap themselves in tin foil.

| Re: We live in... You are right, radiation is used to treat cancer...but it is a form of radiation known as ionizing radiation. What ionizing radiation does is change the electron configuration in atoms...including the atoms that make up genes and whatnot...this change will destroy/alter genes and can kill cells or cause them to malfunction.
WiFi utilizes RF energy which is considered non-ionizing radiation. WiFi potentially could cause bodily harm if one were to greatly increase the output power of their transmitter...but not in the same way as ionizing radiation used in cancer treatment would be.

| Re: We live in... That's interesting. Are there any studies that show how an over-abundance of WiFi radiation would affect the human body. If so, are the symptoms "suffered" by this woman similar? Guess I need to do some searching... | |

| Did you see the documentary on TV? "WiFer Madness" aired on PSB the other night. I've been enlighted now. Those poor, poor net surfers that got into that typing frenzy about 2-3 minutes after they had that first hit of WiFi waves in their eyes. You knew they were in trouble when the eyes started getting glazed over.
Ya'll should be ashamed of yourself for lampooning the hazards of WiFi. It's real!!
