Re: bait and switch at its finestunfortunately this is a tactic that the employees are [/b]almost ALWAYS guilty about[/b], if the employee isn't help you & being a HINDRANCE, then get employees name & if possible their ID or training #, {A} ask to speak to a supervisor, {B} Hang up call back & after into, just say, I need to speak to a supervisory, more then likely the employees is going to try to push you to tell them, just tell them it s a problem with ATT products & services, i need to speak to a supervisor.

It should be there right just like there right to universal health care. Hey they are Canadian they get what ever they want. LOL nice one.

Re: bait and switch at its finestWell smart Canadians can get $10.00 DSL Deal from AT&T. Just move south a little. If they are skilled they can get a work VISA, move to south florida, save on taxes just like I did.
|

monopolist arrogance at it's finestwell, AT&T didn't really do this voluntarily, they threw it on the table as a "concession" for the merger. Therefore, they will be dragging their feet and doing their best to see that as few people get this deal as possible.
and the FCC is not going to do a thing about it.

Ugh...Why can't you just give them the service without having to buy a phone line.
|
| |
Re: Ugh...While I agree that DSL service should be offered al a carte for $10 I can let slide the fact phone service bundling is required on this offer. Now if ATT would offer ANY unbundled DSL there would be more room to accept the terms of this offer, but I have yet to see them do that.

HA! They don't know me too well, then. Then again, I'd avoid AT&T like the plague. There's few companies I despise more than AT&T. But, what can you say about a company that merges with cingular, and drops the AT&T name, then, whines when people still refer to them as Cingular. If I had more time and space, I'd share with you how they insisted I owed them over $300 for calling card calls that I didnt make, and they verified, noting that I insisted on NO calling cards, and the calls were made 3 days BEFORE i even opened the acct. Unfortunately, I dont have the time to go into details how they opened accounts for my grandmother. NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE, but THREE different times, for people in different areas, and of different races! Of course, I want to tell everyone about how I purchased some AT&T cordless phones, and they had horrible sound and volume. Then, when I had their dial-up service years ago, and after one weekend, I had to dump them, because they dumped me over 185 times in 3 days! Oh, and has anyone tried to contact AT&T's customer service? Is there even such a thing? Sheesh! AT&T, Cingular, ScrewYou Telecomm, whatever name they go by, I will be sure to stay far far away from. I'd rather use smoke signals to communicate than have to rely on this worthless company. So, to answer you, hell yeah I'd dump them in a heartbeat. I've done it before; but, unless I suffer a serious mental breakdown, I wont ever have to again. said by hopeflicker:said by Subaru: Why is it so hard to keep it at $10 without some 4-9 month intro rate? Well, they were only able to be blackmailed, because the merger should have been shot down in the first place. I'd trade every telcom innovation since service providers were allowed to merge back with the backbone servicers, to have it back to that state. How is there supposed to be competition when one or two companies own all the "pipes"?

10 dollars a month is a lot because you still need phone service. The phone service is already paying for the line. The extra 10 is like printing money. The only reason that is not enough is because people feel the need to skim profits off the top of your service fees that should be paying for network upgrades.

I'm not saying that $10/mo. for DSL + phone service + taxes/fees isn't cheap. But they cannot sustain to sell DSL for $10/mo. forever.

Sure it would be nice. But that $10 is paying for the ISP and the service provided. Requiring a line means that the actual copper, equipment, etc is being paid for as well. If you have POTS from a CLEC/ILEC, then the $10 should be an option. But if you don't, then it should cost more (either through a service price or fee.

In other words...It isn't a $10 service. You can't price it that way and stipulate the customer must buy something else that they may not need.

Even CNNCNN had a brief story in a business segment yesterday. They pointed out the fact that it's difficult to find. They explained that it's only online, buried in the ULA, ETC, All in kinda in a mocking way.

Who would want it?Why would anyone want to sign up for a 768Kbs DSL tier? We all need 100Mbs symetrical FTTH right now. The killer apps are all around us. They've completely surrounded us. Everyone without at least 50Mbs and 5 concurrent HDTV streams will be unable to function as a normal member of society, and most likely starve to death any minute now.

What is all the fuss?I don't understand all this. I went to the bellsouth site, clicked on the Internet link, went through the process to sign up (it did initially say $19.95 was the cheapest, but as you go through the process, $10 does show up), and completed the order.
It was slightly painless.

$10 DSL up and runningOrdered it Saturday, kit came yesterday, installed today.
Saves $40/month over cable broadband (cable bill now under $10/month)
30 months minimum at this price per the merger agreement.
By the end of 2009 we'll have city-wide wireless broadband.

Just a Ploy by the FTC/FCC...in an attempt to increase broadband subscriber numbers. They are stuck on the idea that many people, especially in rural areas, don't have broadband because of the cost.
They figure if they force SBC to offer the $10 deal, subscriber numbers will jump, and they will look good at the next penetration percentage party.
Next, they will be scratching their heads and wondering why more people didn't take the deal, since we all know that 98% of US Zipcodes are "served".
