I really don't think an AT&T/Qwest merger will ever happen. The feds most likely would oppose this next telco consolidation and I also doubt AT&T will even want them.
Given how the US dollar is beaten down, I expect a foreign entity to take Qwest over. Possibly someone like Deutsche Telekom, the parent of T-Mobile wireless in the US. That would get Deutsche Telekom even more in to the US marketplace. And it would get T-Mobile access to Qwest's national fiber network and allow T-Mobile to more easily expand nationally. -- -- Internet News My BLOG My Web Page

Oh well, better than the $4,400,000 bonus than the last one had. -- I am not lost, I find myself every time.

Edward Mueller will be Qwest's new CEO, and will start with a salary of $1.2 million and a minimum bonus of $947,000 (plus stock-based incentives). $947,000 minimum bonus ? Sorry, but I thought bonuses were always granted based on performance or profitability. According to the news, the guy gets a guaranteed bonus with this minimum bonus crap ? Man, I'd like to have a minimum bonus for doing jack squat like these executive guys. $deity knows I've got more marketable skills than most of them (considering theirs usually are the ability to play golf and to sit pretty for investor press conferences).
Anyway, the only upside is that this guy HAS TO BE better than Nacchio was. -- Prove it... Save the Internet Time (NTP) service, use the pool.

For example, he may have a target bonus of 100%, but a minimum bonus of 75% and an incentive bonus of %125
Now, defining the trigger level for bonuses for the guy is a different question for a different day.

Gene59 join:2007-08-13 Florence, AZ | QWEST DSL Qwest users be careful of your billing. mine has been changing for a year now. Surpose to be $82.10 per month they have it over $200.00. needless to say I have had a few words with Qwest, I'm not sure but I think their hard of hearing. So watch your bill closely. And they will even be nice enough to bundle services for you. All I ordered was DSL, but they were nice and added other changes, such as my Directv, without me knowing or giving my ok. Now we know how the bosses get so much money.

THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM, THEY ARE JUST HOPEING THE CUSTOMER WON'T CHECK THAT CLOSE AND JUST WRITE THE CHECK OUT EACH MONTH. GET THIS, AFTER THEY FOUND OUT I HAD CELL PHONES, THEY MAILED 8 CELLS, AND ALMOST 400.00 BILL, NOW THAT WAS SOMETHING TO WORK WITH. GENE.
