| there are many players out there, at&t is not the only game I think a merger would do well. I see much of the positive from the at&t merger with bellsouth. The company has become much more efficient. I believe these efficiencies will enable them to lower prices and make it better for consumers. It's already happening. | |

This author says the lack of a "bake-off" proves AT&T is not buying anyone.
Meanwhile, in another column the exact same author is claiming AT&T could buy DTV.
His statements are totally inconsistent. Why should I believe this guy? Especially considing his parent company owns DTV. | |

| Several reports have it that when Alcatel merged with Lucent they fired all of the good U.S. engineers. Now Alcatel can't build the U-Verse systems to meet spec. The end result is that AT&T is shopping for a replacement for video transport via U-Verse.
