Back
in August, a Missouri man filed an antitrust suit against Time Warner Cable and Time Warner because they force him to rent a cable box instead of allowing him to purchase one from an independent company. Now Comcast is
facing a similar suit. A Stockton, California woman is suing Comcast for antitrust violations by forcing her to rent a cable box from Comcast, instead of allowing her to purchase one elsewhere. Yes, such consumers could buy TiVos and get a CableCARD, but their argument is that they should be able to purchase the actual Comcast box (or something similar) from retail outlets.
