They're a joke of a company. Then again, they are Southwestern bell who has been rebranded AT&T. It would be like MetroPCS buying up and rebranding to Verizon.

But you also have to keep in mind that AT&T's 3G is significantly faster than Verizon's 3G. It is not an apples-to-apples comparison. Who cares when one can get Verizon's 4G. here's an example. The town 20 miles east of me Waverly, TN. The best at&t offers is EDGE. Not even 3G. Verizon has had 4G since April. Who are you going to go with? Even if all Verizon offered was 3G that's faster than EDGE. At&t just within the last month added 3G here in Camden. Verizon has had it here for almost 5 years now.

| Re: Verizon has 371 markets Here its the opposite.
This area of CA is one of the few areas in all of California that Verizon has no LTE.
Similarly, AT&T has 'faux G' (HSPA+) here and no LTE (no carrier has LTE here currently!)
I did notice that some sites for AT&T were having panels replaced.

And it was in an area that isn't in the middle of no where, like your example and where you hear most EDGE complaints coming from.

Considering that Verizon was launching nearly as many LTE markets as AT&T had in a single day, this is hardly impressive at all.
This is aside from the fact that current "Unlimited" data customers, which AT&T loathe, can't do FaceTime over Cellular.

| Good thing I have Verizon They have had LTE in the areas I live and travel. They have had LTE in Springfield MA for over a year, and they just turned on LTE at my Grandma's house in Maine earlier this year. They also have it in my hometown of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Maine has pretty good LTE coverage (about 2-3 bars at my Grandma's house in Biddeford). The Maine Mall in South Portland has spotty LTE coverage (and only because of a repeater in the Verizon Store there). According to some employees of the store, South Portland is not quite online yet with LTE because it has to do with issues with the leases on the two towers in South Portland.
It will be another few years before AT&T has LTE in more rural areas lime Iowa and Maine. AT&T seems to be slower with network upgrades than Verizon.
-- I wish I still lived in Iowa; Everything there from rent and groceries to Cable TV is much cheaper in Iowa (especially with an overbuilder in town).

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I might actually switch to T-Mobile until we get some kind of LTE buildout around here.
Verizon's had it for several months now in Philadelphia & Suburbs.

Not sure where you get 2 GB from. Under Verizon's new plans your cap can be anywhere from 1 GB to 20 GB. Even under old pricing the caps was 2 GB, 5 GB or 10 GB. 2GB is just what most people CHOOSE to get.

| Anchorage I think that's actually the first market that AT&T has launched LTE in before Verizon!
Now you start to see why GCI and Alaska Communications (fka ACS) merged their wireless operations on the backend; Verizon will be following AT&T into AK as fast as they can with LTE.

| koolman2Premium join:2002-10-01 Anchorage, AK | Re: Anchorage I was very surprised to find out a co-worker's Galaxy S3 had turned to LTE last week. I didn't know AT&T would spend money on Alaska any mOre than it had to. I'm with GCI and will be for a while.
From what I understand, ACS has the LTE spectrum, but GCI has the resources to launch it quickly. That's why they have joined forces. Hopefully the Alaska Wireless Network will get LTE soon. They'll have to.

| | Punished ... I guess Rochester gets punished for being an LTE launch market with Verizon? Buffalo got ATT LTE not too long ago, now Syracuse is announced ... at this rate I'll bet Albany and Utica get LTE before Rochester.
Ok ... whining over. | |

1 edit | Time to hang up on AT&T My time with AT&T on the wireless side is coming to a close. Honestly I think it's time to go prepaid or with TMobile. I'm not going to pay a premium for AT&T's slow service anymore. I would consider Sprint, but honestly their coverage is a JOKE in this area.
EDIT: I bought the HTC Vivid back in December thinking that LTE would surely be here by the end of 2012. Nope! Go ahead and squat on the spectrum AT&T.... I'll squat on the money I'm saving!
