| $10 DSL Not only is $10 DSL hard to get, it's not $10.
I signed up online for this about 18 months. Bought the modem, a basic phone line, etc. Then my bill shows up and they bill me $14.99 for the $10 DSL. I short pay $5 and include a letter with my payment and a copy of the online confirmation of the $10 price. next month same thing...+ a late fee for underpaying the previous month. I shortpay again and call them. After talking to at least 5 people they all tell me that my $10 DSL does not exist. I fax them a copy of where I signed up and it clearly showed $9.99 per month. They basically tell me tough, and it doesn't exist. So I cancel.
6 Months later a check shows up for ~$20 from att due to "billing errors".

Well, I signed up for the $10/month DSL service about 18 months ago, and every month I have been/am billed the correct $10/month for the service. I don't know why you had a problem, but I have not. And it is really a lot faster than I expected, and very reliable, so I am a happy customer, at least for now. -- Justin Verizon FiOS TV and Internet Motorola QIP6416 HD DVR Sony KDL-V40XBR1

| Re: $10 DSL Hey Justin - What was the secret to getting it? Do you have a contact in AT&T or what? Did you just ask the salesman and they hooked you up?
I read this specifically »www.fcc.gov/ATT_FINALMergerCommi···2-28.pdf and it says "not more than $20 per month." So I'm wondering how to pin them down on the $10 price point.
Also - does anyone know if Verizon offers naked dsl and at what price?

I got it for my mom and she has phone too but only $9.95 a month for 2 years. Still had to order through DSL sales.

| Cant sign up for Naked DSL When i go to the AT&T website to sign up for DSL. DSL is available at my house as i had it threw Bellsouth a couple years ago. Well, I type in my all info under the DSL with no phone line option and it takes me to another page where i type in the same info. Hit submit and it does a big loop and i have to type my info in again. The process to get a DSL bundle with phone service can be done in like 5 clicks compared to the loop of getting it with no phone line. | |

| getting scared now I do have dry loop dsl at 35/month and get this no other taxes. I am weary now to cancel since of this post. I do have issues when calling them since most of the time the account does not show up in the system or I need to be taken to a different department. | |

The billed me $14.99 before any other fees. Actually, they billed me $19.99 and then some dumb $5 "credit". At any rate it's probably the weirdest customer service experience I've ever encountered.

| switched to uverse I recommended a friend order dry loop DSL from AT&T. Install date came and went. She spent hours on the phone. Field techs came, said the problem was in the Central Office and field techs went. They couldn't figure it out for months. She ordered Uverse and it lo and behold, they told her the DSL was plugged into Uverse equipment the whole time. She ordered Uverse and the install went much smoother, but she pays a lot more. | |

| said by Samus82 :you cant "Plug" dsl into "uverse equipment" so i donno what that means. There was a Uverse DSLAM on the line from the fridge near your house I guess, legacy DSL comes from an older RT, or the CO. AFAIK, some people qualify for Uverse DSL, yet don't for ADSL for the reason above. | |

| the loop terminated in Uverse equipment at the CO, but there was a DSL modem at the prem.
My conjecture: the [automated] order went to the CO instructing them to plug the cable pair into Uverse equipment. Every time the trouble ticket went to the CO, the tech would close the ticket because the cable was terminated where the order specified. Due to line share regulation, AT&T can't tell itself the problem. Every department thinks they are okay.

Edit: page 3, number 3 of the referenced merger agreement notes the $10 offering, but states nothing about offering it naked for that price was required.

Well if att had their ass straight, it would have been a one hour job. That link is trash (well there were extenuating circumstances but then the fault devolves to the att website as a whole, so they still suck ass).

My DSL direct number is a regular 770 area code number. Suffice to say after being transferred around 3 times I was able to get the free modem rebate.
