Back In February we noted that AT&T appeared to be shutting down their metered billing trials in both Reno, Nevada and Beaumont, Texas. Insiders at the time informed Broadband Reports that the shut down was largely due to the high costs of support and systems needed to make the shift (though Time Warner Cable's PR disaster likely also played a role). AT&T wouldn't officially confirm to us that the trials were dead -- only that they were no longer signing up new users. Stop The Cap talked to one user who claims an AT&T support rep read from an official document confirming that AT&T's metered billing trials did officially end on April 1. For whatever reason AT&T chose not to tell anyone -- including those involved in the trial.
