AT&T Nabs Another Award, Continuing Trend of Sucking Less
With AT&T recently winning a slew of awards naming their LTE network the fastest in the nation
, we've officially come a long way from 2009 when the company's network was the butt of jokes everywhere
, having crumbled under the weight of the company's then exclusive iPhone offering. In addition to top LTE speed honors, AT&T recently toppled Verizon for the first time
in a JD Power & Associates ranking for customer satisfaction with carrier support.
AT&T's now won another award from JD Power
, this time taking top honors for the highest customer satisfaction in the "wireless purchase experience":
"For the first-time since the study's inception, AT&T ranks highest in overall customer purchase experience satisfaction among Tier 1 full-service wireless carriers. AT&T achieves a score of 798 and performs particularly well in the store sales representative and store facility factors. Verizon Wireless (794) and Sprint (793) follow very closely in the rankings."
While applying too much weight to a JD Power ranking isn't wise (AT&T's still not faring well in rankings such as the ACSI
), clearly the company is making strides. Next thing you know, AT&T lobbyists and policy guys like Jim Cicconi will stop lying
, AT&T will stop imposing bizarre and obnoxious fees
on consumers, and the company will cease all anti-competitive
and predatory market behavior
Re: On pay as you go, but... must be on a store by store basis then, because when I went in to outright buy two SGS3s this january, the guy kept trying to sell me a service plan, and telling me that the SGS3 would not work with the prepaid carrier I have(Straighttalk), and all kinds of other bullshit. I ended up having to tell him, after nearly 20 minutes, to either shut up and get me the phones, or get me another person who will sell me a god damn phone, or im just going to leave and you are not going to get any business from me. His manager came over, told him to go home, and apologized profusely. Turns out, that the store had no SGS3s left in stock anyways, but she tried to sell me an iphone instead(telling me how great they were). I pulled my current Iphone4s out of my pocket and told her that I did not come here for an Iphone that I already had, and left. The store on the other side of town happily sold me two SGS3s off contract, and even called their contact center for their SIM unlock codes.
TL:DR store by store basis says some stores just have shitty employees and management, while others are great. We have one of each within 10 miles of each other, and the nice store hears about the shitty one all the time, and can do nothing about it.
