I was so po'ed when SE Cable decided to add QVC HD. We need Discovery HD so I can see Mythbusters in HD instead of going over to my friend's house (he has FiOS).

| U-verse high def sucks The picture quality of U-Verse HD is by far sub par to any cable or satellite HD that I've ever seen. I watched the superbowl at a friends house that has it and it was strange. When the picture would quickly change it seemed like the image would have to build itself. | |

adsldog join:2000-12-01 Woodstock, GA | Bellsouth had a better quality I worked on the Bellsouth IPTV trial and I saw Direct TV on a 50 inch HDTV next to a Bellsouth IPTV on a 50 inch HDTV and the Bellsouth IPTV was much better. Bellsouth was using ADSL2+ and MMX, with ADSL2+ we were getting speeds of 35-40MB at 4000-5000 ft and with MMX we were getting speeds of 80MB, "before it was throttled at the Radius server", after it was throttled we had 40-50MB at 3000-4000 ft. At the time they were using MPEG 2 compression and planed to move to MPEG 4. But all of that changed when ATT took over and went to VDSL 1.5 not VDSL2 but 1.5, they could only get top speeds of 24MB at 2000-3000 ft. I do understand changing to what the rest of the company is already using and supporting. But when you have a technology working better, faster and at longer distances at least keep what you have in that area so you can compare.
|
| Zoly join:2004-01-04 Houston, TX | Re: Bellsouth had a better quality In fact U-verse HD looks much better than Comcast here in Houston. Though, some channels look on Comcast better than on U-Verse (only national networks for some reason). Macroblocking on Comcast is very bad here. And i compared them side by side.
Also, for about a year ago, before U-verse implemented a new compression, Comcast used to be superior over U-verse.
