Is it just me or has there been a lot more mergers or rumored mergers going on in the past year. Makes me wonder if locked in 2 year agreements will be affected or possibly no more 24.99 the 1st year 39.99 the 2nd year on Dish subscription.

| | | | Dish Network since 2001. Left Comcast. Missed OnDemand for about a month and got over it in favor of better quality of service (in terms of reliability) and better Customer Support in the rare moments I had a problem - unlike when I was with Comcast and losing service no less than twice a month at bare minimal.
Verizon doesn't feel like finishing off their build-out per the terms of their franchise agreement so that's not presently an option (It has literally been stalled ONE block away for 3 years).
I'm frankly not going back to Comcast unless they offer their service for free because that's about all their crap is worth to me. I'm sure they'd find a way to hit me with some mystery charge anyway.
Dish has worked with me anytime I have a problem and their prices don't go up once every couple of seasons unlike our Comcast bill did. Even today, with America's Top 250 and GoldHD, my price is still lower than it was when I had Comcast after all their price hikes. Raising with inflation? Please.

| Re: Dish Network = Horrible Customer Service Where I live in Ohio you have: Time warner [I have to have it for internet] At&T with Uverse. I have lived here for 6 years and still no dsl or Uverse. So a big F you to AT&T. Direct TV or Dish. We used Dish in GA [since the mid 90's] so we stayed with them. -- To All Real Dads. For All Real Moms Every Real Service. | |

| | again huh? These rumors were malarkey in 2007 and probably are once again. While at&t does have cash on hand for such an 'acquisition', I think many DISH customers would cancel the minute the deal closed.
Of course, such a deal would be subject to regulatory approval. Let's just put the 'new' at&t back thru anti-trust hearings and declare them a monopoly once again, to be broken up by the government. I'd sure enjoy that
DISH Network under the 'new' at&t would be about as great as iPhone service in New York City and San Francisco!
back in the 90s, the old AT&T purchased NCR, only to sell the asset. WHY? They knew, they'd have to change the company name to CR&P (Cash Registers & Phones)
Down with at&t! Death to ma' Bell!!

SBC destroyed AT&T AND BellSouth. They are concerned only with numbers. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES OR THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL. We are all just a number to management. Management fudges the numbers to make investors happy. Forget listening to your customers and meeting there concerns or demands. They are destroying employee moral to the point that they could care less about the company and is customers. Employees are just trying to make a number to save their job. -- GO NOLES!!

| Ponder this: No more value left in the Bell South merger.. time for AT&T to grab more companies and crunch them together. As I've said in other threads.. it would be just about as likely for AT&T to merge with a broadcast network so that when the shuffle comes around for cable-tv service negotiations-- they just might own some of the assets.
The other point is AT&T wants to have as good of a negotiating position as Verizon when it comes to dealing with content owners... but unfortunately, they decided on a piss poor DSL network as their "third world class" distribution of internet access, and not FTTP. Verizon can tell the content owners to go to hell... AT&T can't (right now). Even comcast has to put it's tail between it's legs when dealing with some of the major broadcast networks.. so they bought one.. thinking it's cheaper to marry instead.
Nevertheless, none of this is good for the consumer. I've yet to see a merger since 2005 that really makes sense sofar.
