$5-$10 bundle discounts & cash back...
(old news - 09:40AM Tuesday Feb 03 2009)
tags: dsl · satellite · business · wireless · bundles · content · AT&T Southeast · AT&T Midwest · AT&T Southwest
As AT&T insiders had told us, AT&T this week began offering DirecTV service to customers out of U-Verse range across their entire 22-state footprint. New customers willing to bundle DirecTV get $5 off for the double play, $10 off for the triple play, and $10 off plus $200 cash back if they bundle phone, DirecTV, DSL and wireless phone. Existing customers can supposedly call up and get the bundle discounts (let us know how that works in the comment section below). While AT&T is still supporting Dish Network and Homezone customers, they're no longer marketing those services to new customers.

This is true!

I called AT&T yesterday, and spent 5 minutes with them on the phone. I got $10 off for bundling my home phone, DSL, wireless phone, and my existing Directv service. If you have even a couple of these services, I suggest you call and get your existing discount.

You will need to provide your directv account number. That is all.

Will they bundle DirecTV with just AT&T Wireless phone service?

Call and ask. I spent 5 minutes on the phone with them to get the $10 discount since I have 3 of the other services. I pretty much am a full AT&T customer. I believe you will get $5 off if you just have 1 service, but I don't know.

Nice Deal Rotten Company

It is too bad Qwest doesn't have a similar deal with Dish Network. I don't like DirectTV because of the RIAA like extortion they hit people with who purchased flash card equipment from sites they used the courts to shut down. They went after anyone who purchased equipment from them. If you are bootlegging their signal then you are a crook however they extorted money from people who had no intention of using this equipment to dupilcate their flash cards. below is an example of what I mean.

DirectTV's flash card would work in any reciever this invited pirating. EchoStar (Dish Network) on the other hand programed their cards so they would only work in a specific reciever only.

Re: Nice Deal Rotten Company

Dish has gone after all the FTA resellers claiming they were helping people pirate their signal. I wouldn't act like they are any better than DirecTV.

Re: Nice Deal Rotten Company

That is correct Free To Air (FTA) Satllite receivers with difficulty can be used to receive Dish Network signals. They are primarly used with the large dish systems to receive the non-ecrypted programing to be found there.
Flash cards on the other hand can be used for other things
besides receiving a DirectTV signal. Except for the C band systems there really isn't much else a FTA receiver can be used for. If you have such a receiver hooked to a small dish system you are pirating the signal.

That is correct there are some interesting programing uplinked in Alaska for the Native American Population. But for the person who wants to see ESPN for free listening to Ladies talking about Muktuk in their native tongue just doesn't hack it.

You said DirecTV was bad company due to their actions involving the flash cards, I don't see what Dish has done to be any different. Both were protecting their signal.

You would not think this was fair if, like the Docter in the linked story, you purchased Flashcard equipment to use for a completely different and legitiment purpose only to be blackmailed into paying money because you happened to purchase it from one of the outfits DirectTV sucsessfully sued.

Nor would you think it was fair if you watched FTA shows, no hacking involved, yet Dish said you only purchased it from a retailer to steal their signal. Dish told all their retailers that they must drop their FTA receivers or face losing their status as a Dish reseller. Pretty crappy if you ask me.

Ok, let me get this straight...

I can get double and triple play discounts with DirecTV (where there's very little synergy between delivering satellite TV and Phone/DSL), but no bundle discounts are available with U-verse that's delivered over one unified infrastructure?

That's bass ackwards!

Re: Ok, let me get this straight...

I could never understand a lot of AT&T's logic.

Deploy Uverse .. but cut VoIP service long before Uverse VoIP is available (why not allow Uverse subscribers to sign up for Call Vantage ? Its a better deal than POTS)

Cheaper discounts with dissimilar services (former Dish and now DirecTV offering deals cheaper than service that AT&T just spent truckloads installing).

Its almost as if AT&T is _really_ acting as a front end for a series of companies (AT&T Mobility, POTS, Long Distance, DSL, Uverse, DirecTV, etc) all fighting amongst themselves for a customer.

That isn't the case to my knowledge. My cousin has Uverse and he gets a discount when he combines his home phone, wireless, Uverse broadband, and Uverse TV service.

I also know for a fact if you have Directv, even if you have Uverse in your area, you can get a discount if you call and ask for it. Mainly because you are under contract and cannot break it without penalty.

Now, if you want TV service and have Uverse in your area, I don't know if they will offer you a directv discount.

works on an exisitng plan?

So, I can take my existing DirecTV plan (I'm on month 13 of a 24-month contract) and move it over to AT&T without any penalty, and AT&T will give me a discount because I already have their DSL and regular land-line phone service? I guess I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Did AT&T purchase DirecTV or something?

DirecTV Bundles

I am an existing AT&T customer (phone and dsl) and an existing DirecTV customer whose 24 month agreement ended last month. I called AT&T today at 800-288-2020 and the CSR told me, after checking with her supervisor, that the bundles are only for new customers. I'm not entirely sure whether she meant existing AT&T or existing DirecTV customers, but I'm SOL according to her. I asked about other available discounts for existing customers, but no luck. Then told her about the entirely different story on this forum and faxed her the url (they supposedly don't have email) so she could see for herself. I'm now awaiting a phone response. Long story short, who can I contact at AT&T to get the discounts the users of this forum received? Between busy signals yesterday and the not very helpful responses from AT&T today, it's been a lot longer than 5 minutes. Thank you.

Bought used hd dvr on craigslist

Cancel my service with directv after 4 years of service. I paid them 150 a month for 4 years. Decided to end them and go with comcast since I only want 1 channel for my mother for only $10 instead of $30 directv was charing (jade channel). Gotta make moms happy yah know? Directv claiming that I owe them the dvr receiver I bought used on craigslist for $200. They billed my credit card 594.08, they are phucking crooks and billing me because they cannot find the original lease owner. I would highly suggest anyone to avoid directv at all cost. I contacted my credit card company and have them remove the charges.

How about getting customers INSIDE the footprint lit up?

I've been looking at shiny new VRADs all over suburban Cleveland for the last 2-3 years, and still only a handful of areas are active for service. Time Warner and WOW cable recently doubled their speeds. ATT is losing ground with the competition here.

AT&T plus DirecTV?

I just called AT&T about this. I am a Directv, AT&T voice, AT&T DSL and AT&T wireless customer, and I was told the only discount available was $5 off if I extended my Directv contract for two years. I don't think I ever had a Directv contract in the first place, so I passed. Also, they tried to get me to switch to U-Verse for tv+internet. Anyone else have different results?

Quick and Painless

Just got off the phone with AT&T- they bundled my All Distance phone, DSL Elite, and preexisting DirecTV service onto one bill, and saved me about $10/month. Be sure to call the 800-288-2020 number. I called DirecTV first, and they can't make the changes on their end, it has to be done through AT&T's end.

All in all, a very good deal for services I already use.

Wireless and DTV bundle

Yes you can bundle wireless and Directv by them self and you can now bundle hsi and Directv by its self which is great because we finally can sell to more customers.
