AT&T To Sell Its Home Security, Automation Business Monday Aug 21 2017 14:00 EDT AT&T may sell off the company's home automation and security business as the company tries to reduce debt load ahead of its planned $85 billion Time Warner merger. AT&T got into the home security and automation business alongside many other ISPs back in 2013 with the launch of the company's "Digital Life" platform. AT&T never revealed subscriber counts for the service(s), which analysts estimate to only have around 400,000 to 500,000 subscribers. But Reuters indicates AT&T hopes to sell the unit for around $1 billion, the first of what's expected to be several debt-related divestitures by the company ahead of its latest debt-loaded megamerger. |
