AT&T U-Verse Drops In Baton Rouge As telco continues to push through former BellSouth region AT&T today launched their VDSL-based U-Verse service in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as the company continues to ramp up deployment of the service across former BellSouth markets. The company also recently launched the service in Memphis and portions of Alabama. With all of these launches, AT&T's been patting themselves on the back for bringing a competitor to cable, though some of the customers AT&T's trying to woo sometimes aren't always impressed by AT&T pricing or speeds. Cox is AT&T's primary competitor in Baton Rouge, and consumer advocates tell the Advocate AT&T doesn't try very hard when competing on price: "Competition is good for consumers. The problem is they (AT&T) havent competed very hard," said Mark Cooper, Consumer Federation of America director of research. "I dont know the details of what theyre doing in Baton Rouge, but the telephone companies tend to come in with a price thats roughly equivalent for a service thats roughly equivalent." Baton Rouge customers can enter their zip code here to see U-Verse pricing, and to see if their neighborhood is being serviced by AT&T.

| Price imbalance What ATT is charging for their Max 18 (18/1.5) is rather high. For just $4 more, I am getting 25/25 on my Fiber connection. Me thinks it is time for them to get a little more competitve. -- The weekend is here, grab a can of beer! | |

Just half a mile away though, they are competing head to head. I do not know if the prices ATT charges in the article are those that they charge in Sacramento. -- The weekend is here, grab a can of beer!

| | Moving north? When will this drop in Bossier City/Shreveport?
Since we have no hope for FiOS, this is the best we can do in LA.
| | | | Re: Moving north? LA has other options.
Eatel in Accension parish, which is just south of BTR, has FTTP.
Don't forget Laft. with their project to light the town.

Lafayette Utility Services [LUS] is moving along very well into their 2nd phase of their FTTH.
Cox has a strong presence in EBR & Lafayette Parish and is so/so depends on your node. If you are near LSU or ULL you have those notorious speed swings in the evenings. As for Hammond, that's Charter hell... -- AT&T UVerse Dispatch Center - SouthWest | Covering AL, AR, CA, FL, GA, KS, KY, LA, MO, MS, NC, NV, OK, SC, TN, & TX

CA had the most expensive gas in the country! It's gas was more expensive than even the border states who get their gas from refineries IN CA. Just crazy....
