Re: FactsLeast amount of dropped calls because of the least amount of completed connections to START the calls. thats what i experienced. I have verizon and it does good except for my new apt. I cant seem to get coverage there, but niether can cingular or others. Voicestream T-mobile used to be known as the sh1tiest carrier around. Looks like they ramped it up a little once they went up north. aren't they losing tons of money?

To fix the all family on verizon or another network, use Tmobile Myfaves Rate plan. The plan gives you the option to choose any five numbers in the U.S. to talk to unlimited.

If you are looking for help, go to a VZW store or call their customer service and tell them you would like a trouble ticket opened for the area you are having problems. Usually they will have a real life "testman" or cell technician drive test your area and see if something can be done. They can adjust the antenna's or slightly increase the power (or other trouble shooting methods) and then retest some calls in your area. Most of the time you will get a call back to see if you have noticed a change. There are some areas that they will be unable to do anything (for example, there is a large hill between you and the tower). Hope this helps =^)

For an Extra $20 a month + special phones. Oh and don't forget the internet requirement. My house in the boonies T-Mobile works 0 and wont even roam off AT&T and I don't have High speed so there goes that. Here is something that would beat that, more cell phone towers Nextel and AT&T are the only people that work in my area.

I noticed exactly the same thing. I have more problems placing calls than having them drop once I'm on them.
I've been eagerly anticipating the 3G upgrade for a long time, but things have been a real mess leading up to and following the enabling of 3G sevice. Sometimes have to manually disable 3G on my phone to place a call.
Here, T-Mobile has a decent network but their coverage isn't too great. In Los Angeles, AT&T customers can get onto T-mobile's network (since they used to share with Pac Bell), but not the other way around.

Re: FactsThat's my ONLY complaint with T-mobile. In north Idaho, there are several areas that are served by AT&T and not T-mobile, and since I can't roam on AT&T...
Oh well, if it's extremely important, I just find me an unsecured wi-fi signal and...
You know the rest. | |

Are you having issues with 3G bouncing like a Windows 98 PC ? When I do have a call on 3G... its great. Typically, it will handoff to GSM before connecting unless I force my phone to 3G only, and then I have to hope that the call will go through. If it doesn't, my phone will end up showing 'No Service' until I 'reboot' my phone, Windows style... and even then its iffy. I have had 2 hour calls on it without issue, on both GSM and 3G, with 3G sounding cleaner (no garble).

These reports don't always represent reality buy the majority choses to believe these "lies". I have trouble receiving and placing calls with my Verizon work phone and have had multiple calls dropped while using the phone. However I have not dopped or have problems making or receiving a call with my AT & T phone. Aside from this, someone had to foot the bill for these reports and most likely received a bit in return.

I guess I lucked out. I always grumble about T-Mobile coverage when I (oh so rarely) leave this area, but aside from that I've got no complaints. Never had any billing issues, the price is right and the few times I've called I got very pleasant people who had answers to my questions. If only VZW was GSM and a roaming partner with T...

Re: 3 T-MobileI've been on AT&T Wireless since GSM rolled out in Los Angeles with mMode (2003/2002?), and their network was pathetic when launched. Cingular moved their customers to AT&T Wireless network in CA/NV, which didn't help, and pushed excessive use of a bad implementation of the AMR-half rate codec.
Coverage in So-Cal: AT&T beats T-Mobile Quality in So-Cal: T-Mobile beats AT&T (except 3G)
AT&T quality is good if you have a Motorola and disable the AMR-half rate codec.
Also, 3G quality is good, however, the network bounces like Windows 98 PC.
General complaints on AT&T: 1. 3G bouncing 2. Audio garbles on GSM
T-Mobile T-Mobile - coverage is too weak to be used inside my house.

Being able to buy unlocked phones online and stay up to date with the newest euro phones is a great benefit of sticking with GSM. I've had ATT, Sprint, and T-Mobile and i've never been happier than I am with T-mobile.

Not true in Parker, CO. T-Mobile is the sux0rz in CO. I have 2 friends that have t-mobile, and they regret it. They drop calls all the time, can't get incoming calls, and sometimes texts take upto 9 hours to get from t-mobile to at&t. I can send them one and it takes almost no time. I can send one to sprint and verizon and there is no issue, and receive just fine. Out at my parents house VZ and AT&T are the only ones, T-Mobile doesn't work at all, same w/ sprint. t-mobile might work elsewhere, but in CO, AT&T is the best. VZ has deadspots in DOWNTOWN DENVER!! I have yet to hit a dead spot on at&t inside a major area. Even in some areas that should not have coverage AT&T works. My work phone is a sprint, and I wish it worked half as reliable as my AT&T phone. VZ is just a joke in some areas out here....

Everyone sucks in Colorado - Ive had AT&T, T-Mobile, Qwest and Sprint and they all have the same problems. AT&T is only good in Denver area. As for the text problems, I'd bet that's AT&T's issue... I have no problem getting T-Mobile texts fairly "instantly".

Re: 3 T-MobileWhy do you think all companies give you a trial usage period. If you don't like the service then cancel and get somebody else. It all boils down to what the network is like in the area nad also the investment you are willing to make on a good mobile phone. If you get a cheap phone guess what your service will be crappy. I have at&t now since it was Bellsouth Mobility and never had any issues. I have the Blackjack and had it since December. I always change phone at least once a month and this one seems to be the one to stay.

Marketing LiesFewest Dropped call by far in comparison to T-mobile and Nextel in this area.
But with that said you can't drop the call if you can't originate the call.. ( which happens more often than any other carrier i have been with, in this area).

AT&T - The Truth HurtsI switched from AT&T/Cingular (longtime abused customer) to T-Mobile a little more than a year ago. We have a family plan with 4 people. With AT&T we got used to uncompleted calls, dropped calls, and reception holes every day!
With T-Mobile we have not had one case of a dropped call, uncompleted call, or no reception. Sure hope T-Mobile can keep up with this level of service.

Virgin MobileVirgin Mobile often ranks highest for most reliable service. Oddly, they are on the Sprint network.
I have Sprint personal and ATT work phone. I know of a couple dense spots in the city where ATT consistently drops - can predict call to drop. Haven't dropped much with Sprint in last couple years, especially since they've added CDMA to thousands of Nextel sites.
Verizon is running into capacity issues as they are growing customers w/out growing network capacity. A friend of mine on VZW doesn't get dropped calls, but rather a 'network busy' when trying to place a call.
I honestly think Sprint has the best network now, especially when it comes to data. It's Sprint's support that sucks so bad that they don't have the growth rate. Sprint is a better tech company than a consumer company. They should split off the voice service as an MVNO and focus on the network.

I honestly think Sprint has the best network now, especially when it comes to data. I guess that depends heavily on where you are. Overland Park is Sprint's operations headquarters, yet Sprint employees within their OWN campus often can't get coverage. Their hometown is spotted with coverage, and most people I talk to here are highly frustrated with Sprint.

Re: Virgin Mobilesaid by tiger72: Overland Park is Sprint's operations headquarters, yet Sprint employees within their OWN campus often can't get coverage. Well if there are 10K+ users trying to connect to a few towers in one location, that's probably difficult to manage. I travel the US many times over and find Sprint's coverage to be way better than in the past. To the point that coverage/reliability isn't an issue, especially with good roaming agreements too. Customer support however still sucks.

I am Very Happy With TMobileI have been very happy with TMobile. My wife had a 200 minute plan and I had 1000 minutes.
Recently my situation changed and I did not need the 1000 minutes that I contracted for on a 2 year contract. The customer service rep explained my options and set up me and my wife on one account with 600 minutes with a 1 year contract that saved me $20 a month.
Many companies would have said screw you and pay us $60 a month for the remaining 18 months that you signed for.

FCC to the rescue?Since the FCC ordered at the beginning of August that cell phone carriers allow roaming on each others networks "on a just, reasonable, and nondiscriminatory basis" that might solve some of their problems. In my case, AT&T's coverage is actually better than the coverage T-Mobile provides me due to their support of 850MHz. 850MHz covers many places in my commute where T-Mobile's 1900MHz does not. OTOH, there are many places where T-Mobile has superior service to AT&T.

Sprint's dropped call rate (somewhat) worse than VerizonsREsults from » www.consumerreports.org/ ··· tr_1.htm show Sprint on the low end in most cities, most probably due to the poor customer service and Nextel merger (IMHO a hugh mistake). I would have thought that besides customer service, the quality of Sprints network was at least as good as Verizon's. Having had Sprint for 4+ years I have had a good experience call-wise, both local and around the US when I travel.
