MMS was never advertised as a selling point for the original phone. Not Apple's fault. There's always something better just around the corner, such is technology. Sure, it wasn't advertised, but it's Apple's fault that it was never implemented in the first place. Agreed, anyone who's owned a iPod knows that Apple loves to enable features in their new products that are perfectly compatible with older hardware, but they use it to tease/force people to upgrade.
Case in point, Mac Pro's are perfectly capable of being upgraded, especially graphics cards, yet Apple only provides upgrades so as long as they did not have a newer product to sell you. They foolishly think that a user will pay another 2k+ for a new mac pro just so he can get the latest graphics cards, I did the math and it was cheaper to build the latest PC for about 1500 soup to nuts. So while I still have the Mac Pro, I do not count on it for upgrading while my PC has already been upgraded a few times as needed.
At least Microsoft and Linux have one good thing in common. They leave you the ability to adjust your hardware as needed. Apple just leaves a burning hole in your pocket as they see fit. -- Play a Death Knight? www.theebonhold.com

| The unofficial ipcc worked for me and 3 others. No one here was prompted to install any updates. I did however go online to appleiphoneschool.com article on how to enable mms. I got the ipcc file from there and put it on 4 iPhones today and it works great. Two of them are on 3.1 while mine and my buddies is on 3.0.
Now I wonder if they count as regular txt messages, or are they priced per mms?

| Picture Compression My iPhone updated just fine. Whenever I send pics to another AT&T # the pic is the same. However, when I send a pic to a T-Mobile # the image is blurry and seems to be compressed. Whenever a pic is sent from that same T-Mobile # to my AT&T # their image is received just as it was sent. Is this a T-Mobile or AT&T problem? | |

| Prices are absurd That's neat and all, but those (sms/mms) prices are nuts.
You'd think that after a plan, and a data plan, mms would just be freaking free. Incoming ought to at least be free. If it isn't, can you decline to accept messages, or must you call them and have it blocked completely?
At least my carrier allows incoming sms/mms for free (U.S. Cellular), though their lack of 3g is disheartening. Don't have a data plan though, so it really doesn't matter to me very much; my phone/sms/mms service is fine

| were not paying anything extra for MMS. if you have a text plan its technically free. However if your saying texting in general should be free then yes your right but that goes for any carrier and i'm not talking about a sign up deal either.
for those saying it gets stuck at around 90%, it isn't getting stuck. it has to compress the message then it sends the message in packets more than likely. takes a minute. ever send a MMS message on a regular phone? its not instant there either. if it takes over a min or so then i stand corrected.
