AT&T's 'Next Gen' Apartment U-verse Expansion: 24 Mbps
Last week AT&T saw some press for the news that they had struck a deal to offer new fiber to the home U-Verse service in key upscale apartment complexes in Atlanta, Austin and Orlando
. AT&T didn't bother to state what kind of speeds these customers would be getting via their fiber to the home connections, though Fierce Wireless notes
that for a similar new deployment in Knoxville, Kentucky it will be 24 Mbps down, 3 Mbps up. Why limit these connections when fiber is capable of so much more? The company told me in 2007
this was to create a "more consistent experience."
