Looking on their coverage maps, the areas that even show "moderate" coverage we have zero signal. I have been working with them to do network tests, etc but nothing. My wife is ready to drop them soon. -- "A religious war is like children fighting over who has the strongest imaginary friend."

| Re: Come on now.... You are right, no roll-over minutes like Cingular/AT&T. Had Cingular through my employer. Finally went with Verizon on the Family Plan which does offer shared minutes. I ended up carrying 2 phones...work/home. Now my Vzn contract is up, wanted to go to Cingular since AT&T took over cuz I heard more towers and tower power and I can add it to my U-verse or phone bundle. Good to learn now that service has not improved before I switch. Besides, On-Star uses Vzn and I can add it onto my Family Plan for $9.95 with an extra 100 minutes, so may stick with Vzn for now (new car). I thought I heard something about a common tower provider and separate phone companies. Anyone hear that? Is it likely? | |

| Is that really considerd Rebranding? So what, the background color is Orange. The name is still AT&T. Is that really considered rebranding?
What's with orange and cell phones anyway? Cingular used an Orange color scheme and theres a UK provider called Orange. »www.orange.co.uk/ Orange must be the hip color for wireless. Verizon's close with their Red and black, but hey those colors don't make orange!
Oh and if the name is now AT&T why do phones still come with that STUPID cingular jingle ring tone. They should put that "All around the world" song by OASIS from the commercials if they really want to force a default ring tone. Better yet, make it sound like a phone when it rings.

| A pig wearing lipstick is still a, well,.... Unfortunately for AT&T, a firm recently found that customers actually liked the Cingular brand better.
No kidding.
After I fired ATTWS back in 2003 for atrocious customer service, it was a coin flip between Cingular and Verizon Wireless. The rollover feature won me over, but after four years of barely using any rollover minutes (partially my problem for being on the wrong plan), the uptick in dropped calls, and the rollback to the AT&T name, it's time to reconsider VZW.
The DeathStar will always be the DeathStar, I suspect. -- Son, there's only one thing you need to know: HEMI

In fact, I remember reading that very story here on BBR...What IS going on here with these different firms. This happens ONLY when consumers have little-to no choice of providers... Otherwise, you'd see a much broader picture, one where consumers make INFORMED choices to go with another provider. In almost EVERY cellular market, there are at LEAST two carriers these days, so AT&T doesn't have a MONOPOLY on wireless anymore.

| New marketing campaign
said by at&t marketing :
The campaign will target both general and multicultural audiences and will also include online, print and outdoor advertising. In addition, an online extension of the campaign, the AT&T Souvenir Store, will launch in October. On the site, visitors will be able to enter the cities and states where they visit or have personal connections to create a unique name that identifies those locations as a group. For example, New York, San Francisco and South Dakota may become "New Sanfrakota." Visitors can then purchase their own personalized "Your Seamless World" merchandise, such as T-shirts and bumper stickers.

This is supposed to be "cool" and appeal to the youth market? How lame. It's called marketing strategy. The young people don't care and will spend their money on anything. Easier to make a quick buck off of them instead of spending more money trying to convince the older ones to change.

They're taking the towers DOWN around here.
Seems the OLD AT&T / Cingular had a nice knack for putting up cell sites without going through any Zoning, and without any Building Permits.
AT&T still believes it is a pre-1984 Federal Government regulated Monopoly, and that local laws don't apply to them.
Many municipalities have been working through the legal battles ever since, so now The NEW AT&T is being served with all of the Cease and Desist orders.

| Cingular, now AT&T, soon to be movin on....
I have had Cingular service for 3 years all was fine. The only thing that changed for me since at&t took over is I haven't received a single voicemail on my phone since the changeover. I was wondering why that was, till someone told me that it asks for some code # or something and they just end up hanging up.
I called my number to see what was up. It answers, then apparently autodials into at&t voicemail, and asks for you to enter the phone number of the mailbox you want to leave a message in, or to retrieve messages enter your code.
Problem with this is, who the heck knows what number they are dialing anymore??? It's all on speed dial, onetouch, voice, etc. Too confusing, too much trouble, so no one leaves messages.
With Cingular, if no one answered it just went directly to leave your message now... beep!
My contract is long up, but to switch I'd lose the great plan I have now that no one offers anymore.... 1000 anytime minutes with rollover for $40/month... I use so little minutes, I have like 8000 in the bank over the last 3 years... they roll off more than I use em.
But the 40/month plans offered now suck compared to that. I just may have to suck it up, but my only other choice out here is Alltel, which just got bought by a private company, so.... not sure bout that... -- Follow Your Bliss -- Joseph Cambell I reject your Reality and substitute my own! -- Adam Savage, Mythbuster

| Re: Cingular, now AT&T, soon to be movin on.... That's probably something that has gone haywire in your profile. Have you called them to try and see what's up? That's not a "standard" for leaving voicemail, at&t or not.
Also, at least with my plan, I have found that cell phone plans have become more of an "access charge" than minute by minute anymore. With all the mobile to mobile and night/weekends, none of the minutes I have for "anytime" are used on any of my phones. So, that 1000 minute plan you have could probably be served with a lower "minute" plan these days. There are a few factors to consider such as will M2M be beneficial, but overall it all works out at least for me. JMO
