| Re: I don't understand... the fee is in event the deal doesn't go through by Aug 31 according to the article. This breakup fee would be paid by adelphia to Time Warner and Comcast. This break fee was already out there for the July 31 date but has been extended until Aug 31. If this happens then Time Warner and Comcast can walk away from the sale. Which at that time in my opinion there will be no winners and everyone looses. | |

| Re: I don't understand... as far jobs that are being lost yes that would be a win situation if the deal falls apart. I am one of those that is effected by this deal. But other than that, the deal not going through would be a bad thing. Adelphia as whole has lost alot of talent already that would take too long to replace, plus because of the deal Adelphia is about a year behind on technology deployment compared to Comcast and TW and the other cable companies. It would take at least 6mo in my opinion to restart alot of the projects that were shutdown because of the sale. Plus the sale not going through has impact on alot of other companies in the industry. If the sale fails, the odds are that they would still try to sale the company and for less money the next time. It is not very feasible that Adelphia would have the chance to emerge as a whole entity. As i have said this is my opinion | |

I'll give you they are missing that, but my area has a couple more HD channels than the neighboring "big city TW area" which historically has been one of TW's better performers therefore they have launched several of there services there as tests (digital phone is one). Granted a couple of extra HD channels doesnt make one better or not, however many have said on these forums that the Adelphia systems that have been upgraded in the past 5 or so years exceed TW's standards, in that TW would drool to have what some Adelphia areas have as far as system specs. Also, Adelphia has deployed DOCSIS 2.0 in most of there markets, something TW nor Comcast has yet to do, and still continue to run on "old" technology. These areas are also upgradable to DOCSIS 3.0 with some software changes in the future.
I understand many of the folks who were employed by Adelphia may have left, heck, my area has only 3 service techs and I only have two days I can pick from for a service call apointment. As far as the employment situation goes, I would say they may have to make up for that but technology wise they are up to par in most markets.

Telent's been lost here, in the middle of nowhere as well, but in no way shape or form could it be considered insurmountable.

Don't forget digital simulcast leading to the eventual demise of analog television.
